You probably have better things to do @mod.bsky.app but these FactFusion posts are consistently spreading wildly inaccurate information posing as feel-good science. It’s spring, time to remove some weeds.
The optimist in me hopes that what emerges from the current chaos/crisis is a more widespread awareness of the system rigging and naked corruption that has served as status quo for decades. This is just one facet of all that, but it’s a good one: open.spotify.com/episode/3Jjy...
If you think Doug Ford using taxpayer funds to buy his private jet is unrelated to his trying to have jets fly from Toronto's Island Airport, I've got a failed private waterfront spa at Ontario Place, a shuttered Science Centre, and a tunnel under the 401 to sell you.

Personally I’ve found the time spend defining business reqs. & specs up front massively improves the initial output of my AI-assisted development environment. We’re only talking about a couple of hours invested to get a much better testable prototype, which also (should be) close to production spec.
The shared excitement over NASA’s recent mission compared to the general indifference to SpaceX missions speaks to the power of something seen as the product of communal human effort rather than just the ego and avarice of one obnoxious dork.
Better yet, had we embraced it as President Carter envisioned it during his term we’d be 100% renewable by now… BUT of course Reagan killed it and removed much of what was installed
This should be seen as massive validation for the research by @jenniferdillpsu.bsky.social, claiming that there is a large amount of *latent* demand for bicycling from "interested but concerned" riders - people who do not currently feel safe riding.
Paris built the infrastructure, and people came.
This book was written as a tool to help us break the doom loop and defeat the End Times Fascists, while there is still time.
There’s much more to say (it’s all in the book!). This is a heavy topic written with urgency, and I’m so lucky to have been able to face it all w @naomiaklein.bsky.social .
Revlimid has its origin in a pill that cost patients $7.50 each.
Decades later, the cancer drug costs more than $18,000 for a month’s supply — even though it still only costs about 25 cents to manufacture.

What a paragraph:
Western carmakers are retreating from EVs just as oil hits $100 a barrel.
The parallels with Detroit in the 1980s are striking. They ignored fuel-efficient Japanese cars. Now they’re ignoring Chinese EVs.
BYD just unveiled 600-mile range and 250 miles of charge in 5 minutes.
Any GTA retailers stocking your stuff? I’m sure the Spacing store would move some units.
I don't think either political party -- or anyone in politics, really -- is thinking in ambitious enough terms about the electricity grid. We need to start thinking of it as the foundation of our 21st century economy & prosperity. It needs to be rethought, rebuilt, & made a solid base for growth.
Trump does not think strategically, historically, geographically, or even rationally. He does not connect actions he takes on one day to events that occur weeks later. Allied leaders know that if they help him in the Gulf, he won't be grateful, or even remember

A screenshot of conversation on threads. @pepsi: What starts with a P and ends with epsi and we all love it? @coloneltonymoore: Putting all billionaires into submaries that implode when they get to the bottom of the ocean, where pressures can reach 16,000 or more psi.
1/ Disruptions mean countries will rush to exit US-led oil order
Worst case scenario for oil companies (best for rest of us) is that people permanently shift...what they call “demand destruction“
i.e short term pain but Long: Iran war will accelerate ongoing STRUCTURAL shift to solar+EVs+batteries

Imagine if this war creates the economic conditions for a rapid shift from oil to renewables? What if it creates so many jobs and cheap, abundant power that Capitalism demands it?
The additional cost of ONE fossil fuel price spike on the scale of 2022 = the ENTIRE COST of Net Zero by 2050. We get precisely nothing in return for the first cost, and a whole new, more secure and cheaper energy system from the second one.

The defining characteristic of Doug Ford, besides his unending obsession with Toronto and its waterfront, is his systematic overriding of transparency and meaningful consultation. He continually imposes his will on communities and people without evidence or input. He is a threat to democracy.

If FIFA did, for some reason, regularly give out a Peace Prize, you’d think #1 on the list of criteria for potential winners would be “do not start a war with another nation in the World Cup, directly before the start of the World Cup”
