Officially official
We forgot the lessons of the Great Depression, undid regulations that prevented another, and got hit with the Global Financial Crisis. But we responded to the 21st century version much better, limiting the damage.
Maybe something similar will happen with this century's echo of 20th century fascism.
The DNC didn't win last night; the fired-up Democratic voters did.

This much is true …
Today is Election Day.
There are no off years.
Local elections are consequential. Your vote matters. Make a plan to vote; be a voter in every election!

The reason why Social Security will be insolvent by 2033 is because the rich don't pay their fair share into it. For a person making $175,100/year, they pay $10,918 of taxes. For a person making $100M a year, they also pay $10,918 in taxes. Abolish the Maximum tax! SS will be good until after 3000.
Hey hey, ho ho.
Great article from @virginiagewin.bsky.social showing that across the Federal science ecosystem, research that benefits the American public is being delayed or completely halted, and remaining programs are being consolidated under close partisan political control. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
It's pretty shitty to witness who's desperately engaging in unbridled, unapologetic racism in these final 24 hours before the polls close in NYC, but it's also illuminating. Masks are coming off. Takes notes for posterity. Someday, they'll pretend it was all a misunderstanding.
Have you voted yet? If not, make a plan and bring a friend!
If you've already voted, remind your friends, neighbors, and colleagues to vote.
The U.S. is experiencing its highest wave of layoffs since 2020, with close to a million workers losing their jobs this year.
When I explain that boycotting an election over an issue has never once forced a politician to embrace that issue, I'm not "scolding people to vote." I'm explaining reality.
Feel free to sit on your ass! Just don't pretend that your lazy apathy is somehow going to advance your agenda.
We should have punished the Confederates.

Some are mad because people are on SNAP and not working.
I’m mad because people are on SNAP even though they are working.
The White House’s campaign against elections isn’t exactly subtle:
- DOJ election monitors in blue states
- gerrymandering schemes
- fighting to acquire voter registration lists & election data in several states
- election deniers in key federal election posts www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...
Tim Walz: "People are gonna be lined up out here to get food, and we're talking about a damn ballroom. Don't lose the plot."
It's not about what this country can or can’t afford. It’s about priorities. [Cartoon by Jesse Duquette]
