Channel 4's 'Palestine Action, The Truth behind the ban' reveals that despite all the things the govt claimed & implied about PA (Iranian backed, violent, secret intel etc), the real reason they proscribed the group as terrorists was because PA was damaging property. Thats it.

It's easy to see this speech as just weirdly performative, but there's a lot more—and a lot worse—going on here.

The meeting & speeches are part of a larger project aimed at promoting the military leadership’s partisan alignment with the administration.

How? 1/

I'd love to have a efficient, user-friendly digital ID card like Sweden but it would need to be similarly decentralized and we need robust restrictions on the usage of our data. How do they expect us to trust a state cosying up to the likes of Palantir and repeatedly misusing private data?

"Hope you find your paradise..."

I just got back from a camping trip to find that Rick Davis has passed away. It was his voice, piano playing and funk and blues influences that made Supertramp one of my favorite 70s rock groups.

We see politicians weaponising fear about trans+ people to avoid addressing the systemic issue that actually endanger women.

The statement in the image is one line taken from our letter - 'Not In Our Name: Women in support of the trans+ community'.

If you agree, read and sign our letter and stand alongside 42K+ other likeminded women in the UK who refuse to be used as cover for discrimination:

"Rupert Lowe, Nigel Farage, Robert Jenrick & their cast of other reckless, self-serving bigots are helping to stir up the very sort of thuggish men who now march and loiter on Britain’s streets, claiming they are there to ‘protect our women’"

I once excitedly lent The Cyberiad to a friend who had studied philosophy and they returned it to me unread saying it wasn't for them. I think that was an early lesson in "everyone doesn't think like you".

The Cyberiad and Solaris were my favorite books as a teen. I think Lem was one of the reasons I went on to study human behavior. I learnt about the fallibility of humans and our poor systems thinking, societal constructs and destructive colonialism. He showed us protest through art. Proud weirdo!

"The worlds of pop and rock owe a much greater debt to the classical canon than we realise.... from the experimentalism of Pierre Henry to The Beatles' 'Tomorrow Never Knows', from Stockhausen to Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' and from Bruckner to Sonic Youth via Glenn Branca."

WhoFundsThem: Literature Review Summary of existing research and polling on MPs interests

Britain has a corruption problem.

"MPs [with 2nd jobs] ask significantly more parliamentary questions. The avg Tory MP asks a median of 2 Qs a year, but this rises to 19 when holding a second job. The largest increase was with those working in the for-profit 'knowledge sector' (avg. 26 questions)"
