As a Red Sox fan, my opinion is that you can root for him to hit a home run every single time he bats, and the team will still lose the majority of its games, so it is harmless for you! They are simply not "one player starts doing well" away from figuring it out.

The point is that this sport actually could have gotten its shit together decades ago. It has always had decent enough people and still does. I think it's sad that they finally acknowledged it in 2020 and 2021, and now it feels like it's going backwards. Pretty easy to imagine why, unfortunately!
