The Brits appear ready to shame the US news media into covering this, distracted as they are by gazing at their own navels ...

Between now and the election, I do not want to see the media focussing on how badly Luxon is managing his caucus. I want to see them writing about how appallingly Luxon's government is managing the country.

You know what’s not a good look, RNZ pandering to a ‘kiss my arse or I won’t talk to you politician” by not discussing the bigotry and racism pouring out of his Party (NZF) that’s emboldened threatening and frightening behaviour towards the NZers of Indian descent and newer Indian immigrants. #nzpol

More than a ‘posh picnic’: Why Sam Neill is right to question the mine OPINION: How have we reached a point where people proudly claiming they've never been to Central Otago are having their say on a new gold mine there.

“Tailings dams are a toxic time bomb that pose one of the greatest risks to their surrounding environment and the people who depend on that environment for their livelihoods.”

Museum photo of a cream coloured Japanese women's coat in silk and wool, seen from behind. The coat is to mid-calf, cut fairly straight, with very large full length sleeves in a traditional style. The principle design element is an embroidered (?) peacock, covering the full back of the coat. Its body sits across the upper back, with its tail feathers sweeping down to the hem. Its head and neck extend into the right sleeve, and further tail feathers in the left.

Coat by Takashimaya, Japan, 1900

A long time since I've posted anything Japanese. This is a beautiful coat. The detail of the peacock is incredible - more pictures attached in the linked post. Always a fan of these very large sleeve ends too.

“Funding for resilience needs to not be a 'marketing exercise': Luxon”

When our 6pm news (largely watched by older viewers) fails to point out what this govt has done to plunge us into a far worse situation re; climate resilience/adaptation, it is a total failure of the 4th estate. Imho. #nzpol

crazy how it's news that somebody justifiably told this guy to fuck off but not news that he's out there driving on a suspended licence.

Unsure but it would trigger by-elections just before the big elections which would be pricey and given the current environment they wouldn’t want to risk losing a single seat
