Cop do not prevent crime and they also don’t even respond to it

Nurses or firefighters would have tried to help, let real public servants keep us safe

Today is day 139 of the ICE occupation of MN.

If ICE hasn’t come to your city or town yet, let us tell you: NOW is the time to organize.

Build trusting relationships. Get folks into Signal groups now, based on trust and connections. It will make what comes next so, so much easier.

Absolutely incredible.

NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.

Watch with sound on.

An important thing that happened in Minnesota this winter is that a lot of people were forced out of their bubbles. We're still navigating how we keep that going now that the crisis isn't so acute, but the initial connections are there.

Marsha Peterson’s 34-year-old son is nonverbal, autistic with Down syndrome. Other transport companies packed him in the back seat with fellow clients, where he’d be kicking. Southdale Transportation drivers joked with him, walked him to the door of his day center. She’s been with them for 10 years.

Republicans deployed a little-known law to open Minnesota wilderness to mining Legal experts say the use of the Congressional Review Act to open mining near the Boundary Waters could drastically reshape U.S. public lands protections.

there is such a magic to sitting on a tiny island in the boundary waters, seeing more stars than you could have imagined were up there, hearing the loons

i hope we do not rob future generations of experiencing it

the president of the united states is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system

When they said "AI will increase productivity" I didn't realize they meant "AI code will crash the social media networks on which I procrastinate, forcing me to actually do my job"

Again: the gun you keep in the home for “protection” increases your risk of homicide by 3-fold, of suicide by 5-fold, and for men, risk of suicide more than 10-fold

The second you bring a gun into the home you’ve dramatically increased the risk of death for your family 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Evanston learned Flock was sharing data with other communities that then shared data with ICE, so mayor/Congressman-elect Daniel Biss canceled the contract for violating the terms, & had city workers cover up the cameras until Flock retrieved them.

It’s been overshadowed by Venezuela and especially Iran, but the deadly boat bombing campaign is still going, even though:
-There’s no war
-The US wasn’t attacked or under threat
-Drug traffickers aren’t terrorists
-These may not be traffickers
-It’s blatantly illegal
-With no clear strategy either

When the White House released their ridiculous “weaponization of government” report, claiming the Biden administration discriminated against conservatives, the press lapped it up

Meanwhile today the Trump DOJ looked to vacate convictions against seditionists and Tulsi Gabbard did this

It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.

everyone involved in the dismantling of USAID should be forced to spend their lives watching graphic videos of what they have subjected people to in their callousness, clockwork orange style

A huge number of cradle Catholics I’ve heard talk about him—lapsed or not—have gone on to talk A Certain Way about adult converts, and I think non-Catholics don’t really understand this part of the culture because Protestantism is so much more loosey-goosey about a lot of this kind of stuff

A lot of people are quick to say they *can't* give up Amazon.

Okay, don't.

Just don't make it your default. That thing you threw in your basket that you can get elsewhere? Get it elsewhere.

If everyone still buying from Amazon reduced their spending by 20%, Bezos would be screaming bloody murder

This opinion is bonkers. Invoking a speech by George Washington attended by other framers talking about foreign threats as powerful originalist evidence that noncitizens don’t have rights is … something.

John Deere to Pay $99 Million in Monumental Right-to-Repair Settlement The ag manufacturing giant will also make digital diagnostic, maintenance, and repair tools available to third parties for 10 years.

I grew up on a farm where we regularly had to fix our own tractors. I also briefly worked for John Deere and watched as they tried to justify why people shouldn't be allowed to do that. Get absolutely fucked Deere, right to repair forever and ever

Al Franken: a known harasser who was pushed out by his own party and immediately replaced by a far more effective and more progressive senator. Yes, we definitely wouldn’t want that to happen again.

I am so angry. Two Durham, NC kids - 11-year-old Genesis and 6-year-old Denis of Burton Elementary Magnet School - were taken by ICE at their regular asylum case appointment, and immediately deported without due process.

After three days, the most striking takeaway from talking with people here is how *angry* everyone is. Heartbroken, weary, yes, those things too. But above all else, they are furious, and not shy about it. When Minnesotans are volunteering their feelings to a stranger, you know it’s bad.

Amy Klobuchar is definitely going to win.

and that sucks. but instead of putting our collective energy into trying to change that, which we probably can’t, we should put the effort into winning seats in the state legislature.

win enough that you make Amy the least powerful part of state gov

Boise took its Pride flag down. But new art has popped up at City Hall. What it cost “The flag is not our only form of expression,” a Council Member previously said.

The famous Andor line is that "tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle." Here is a perfect example of that through malicious compliance: Idaho forced the city of Boise to remove its Pride flags. So the city painted rainbows everywhere else.

i think we should start a petition to permanently ban pete hegeseth from the minnesota state fair.

it feels like that’s how you excommunicate a minnesotan. sweet martha signs the order. fairchild throws you to the curb.
