Oh dang that is a lot. Hang in there
Some tidbits:
What do you think of mom?
How about Ms. Rosa?
How much do we trust that it only attracts shitbags?
tonight's short story club read was www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/dros... by @ghoulpus.bsky.social
It's got a lot going on and we had spirited discussion. I think it's a good sign for a short story when we can all say it was well-written and then argue about morality for an hour.
I figured you all wanted the photo that included the cat
A round crocheted rug with a cat on it
I learned to crochet rugs from Pendleton blanket selvages today (it was a crafting event at their store) i have approximately three small rugs now
Arg, made plans to go to a health care for all meeting around then!
sick job alert - @pnwelcome.bsky.social is hiring an organizing director. come whip all our policy nerds into shape to help pass pro-homes campaigns at the city and the state over the next year portlandneighborswelcome.org/hiring
PDX folks, is there a bike shop here that sells used/refurbished bikes and/or accepts trade-ins? Or an event where such a thing might happen? It feels like something this town should have but my search efforts aren’t turning up anything yet.
Oh hell no
I saw Lincoln’s Dreams in a used bookstore and bought it! Not even sure if time travel, but will read any Connie Willis that i have somehow missed
Two good ideas!
i'll be going back sometime if any mutuals want to coordinate!

tonight's short story club was clarkesworldmagazine.com/kim_10_25/ @isabel.kim is a certified club favorite, and we had a lot to talk (argue) about.
if you read it, get back to me with whether you could follow through on the last line of the story.
Happy #DouglassDay ! I'm already transcribing with my morning coffee. I love the peek into history and that transcribing is a little bit of contributing! douglassday.org
✨ On 2/13, join us as we host Douglass Day 2026! This annual celebration honors the legacy of Frederick Douglass and brings together volunteers to transcribe Black history. Find guides to help you bring Douglass Day into your college and K12 classrooms and register via the newsletter linked below.
Water color flyer for Make a Friend (on Transit) Day made by Alfred Twu. It shows three friendly people sitting on transit chatting with each other, wearing name tags. Mini personifications of a smiling BART train (with name tag) a bus and a ferry are also on board engaged in conversation. In the lap of a person is a smiling Caltrain akin to a lap-dog, and another person has a tote bag with a picture of a BART car face on it.
Make a Friend (On Transit) Day is next Wednesday! Join the fun and help pass out name tags at @bart.gov @caltrain.com, bus hubs, and @sfbayferry.com terminals that morning. And who knows, an hour of your time might help spark a lifelong friendship. Check it out docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Whoa. I read @sarahgailey.bsky.social ‘s The Echo Wife over the last couple of weeks and it is really good. It’s also intense and i spent a lot of time yelling at the characters about their bad ideas. It is disturbing in a way where that just makes it better at what it does.
My Hugo and Nebula award winning novel Among Others about a science fiction reading girl with fantasy problems is on sale as an ebook for $2.99 www.amazon.com/Among-Others...

A swatch of seafoam colored lace knitting, there’s a black yarn woven through the middle and the top. Hard to say if the lace part looks good
I have been knitting for 2.5 weeks and i am thrilled to already be knitting lace. Am i doing it correctly? Almost certainly not. It feels like progress anyway.
