Yes - you are going to lose the left side points.

Tax Day today gives us the chance to imagine a government which works for us - where we invest our shared resources in building the world we seek, rather than funding war or giving handouts to the wealthy buff.ly/RGg6HGM

Me going through chemo in 2017 versus in remission in 2025

I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor, and the Affordable Care Act saved my life nine years ago. The ACA and I are both still here.

Why are we funding more wars overseas while taking away health care from millions of Americans like you and me?

The quilt artist was Caryl Bryer Fallert - a quick search brings this up bryerpatch.com/images/quilt...

$200 billion could easily pay for public health in the US today -

I think the key word below is “labyrinthian.” That surely is the source of a significant amount of the costs. We certainly aren’t getting real person-reported health benefit outcomes!

Speak truth, Elizabeth

Thank you, @indyweek.bsky.social for publishing this story. Quilters might be (mostly?) old ladies, but we always have had voices. It’s not just performative. Despite ageist and sexist tropes, every voice counts.

This gives me hope.

Ack - so how many do I have to admit to if I’m telling the truth and can I still say I really want to be an Ex- ?

Speak truth, Friends! Quakers died for these freedoms.

This is morally wrong.

The spirit of Christ, which leads us into all Truth, will never move us to fight and war against any man with outward weapons, neither for the kingdom of Christ, nor for the kingdoms of this world.

II Cor 10:3 (KJV) “We do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” — Human warfare is neither moral nor effective. It has been wrong in the Gulf for the last 35 years (and many more).

Good point. I didn’t realize!

This - Mind the Light - and if it tells you to speak, use your voice every time to speak Truth

Sarah - I hate to give advice because your gorgeous quilt has so much white and such bright colors but….. I have made several similarly colored quilts and just washed them on hot with some Synthrapol detergent. They have been fine. YMMV!!

I have never done Facebook and don’t do Google but you are correct about Duck Duck Go

This is an amazing essay. I will be thinking about it all day - and it ends with art. What we make. I will die, but there will remain dozens of quilts that exist because of my hands, my brain. Yes, it’s hubris to call them art, but will they carry my ghost?

You all are so cool. Not really my demographic (overall) but I’ve watched your stuff over the years and love how effectively you portray what you’re depicting.

I have seen those grid fusibles and always wondered. Your R2D2 looks great though.

Yes. Literally physically ill.

This is unconscionable. Nursing homes are chronically understaffed. The only way to force the management companies to increase staffing is by state and Medicare regulations (and oversight).

Sometimes you just want to do some stitching. Hand quilting bits of an old panel I had leftover from something else.

This is a continuing shame. Don’t talk to me about MAHA until you make it safe for ALL women in pregnancy and childbirth.

Mine do too! I wonder what causes that? What’s the physics behind how they fall?

This was true 23 years ago, 33 years ago, and is true today.
