I think specific use cases like medical imaging, generation of proteins, etc. are great. I just don’t like the idea of farming out thinking to a machine with no truth value and prone to hallucinations. I also think it can undercut learning.

This is true in semiconductors as well. We blockaded them, then they turned to homegrown solutions. They already fab and assemble everything. Plus, they have tons of smart engineers willing to work long hours (job market there sucks).
