Dawg day afternoon

When I started Opoona I really didn't imagine that there would be normal anime men in it alongside the emoji people- which brings into light the excellent concept that Tizians just look like that normally, it's not stylization, they really are just emoji aliens
Let it pour
Kind of a short review, although I guess its fitting for a short game. It was a fun time, though, even if I didn't have a whole lot of substance to say about it. Looking forward to trying out some other Sgt M/Torch60 stuff in the future.
Finding out that the lead artist/character designer for the Fuga games is not only on Bluesky but that they're taking commissions might actually be the most excited I've been about anything all year
I received a request via Skeb from Steyr.
bsky.app/profile/stey...
The request was for a birdwatching scene. Looking at their account, I saw many wonderful bird photographs, which showed how serious they are about the subject.
I felt that I needed to be careful with the details to do them justice.
Crazy way to learn that the 80s nostalgia well has run so dry that they need to make another He-Man movie
You think they could have at least had an appealing bun-to-filling ratio going on
I sketched this face ages ago while practicing and have made countless attempts to give it a body and a scene and "rescue" it, but I'm finally happy with this one
Ara Fell- polished and pretty, but kind of iconically average overall. The most "that sure is a game" JRPG I've played in ages.
By popular demand... Goth Patty! π¦π€

I know AF was always the butt of the joke for the overlays and screen effects and three tile rule stuff but tbh it's actually been quite nice looking thus far, a bit on the noisy side but rarely to its own detriment
Ara Fell may be the first 2D game I've seen (or the first RPG in any case) that properly balances the "glare" level from a cloud layer underneath a dark area like this, it's a very nice and subtle effect
Desmond
Patty and... hooman Patty! Now with some Easter spice!

It's definitely worth at least one run, if for some reason someone couldn't just play Symphonia it would for sure be my "one title in the series they should play" despite the gripes (at least for now)
To its credit, yes, with Repede, Karol, and Patty its the only JRPG I know of where nearly your entire party can just be knife wielding children and dogs
Doesn't hold up quite as well after nearly 20 years, but it's still a pretty average game- one of those titles with a killer first act that suddenly realizes "oh shit I'm a JRPG" and falls down a flight of stairs trying to cram in lousy genre expectations instead of building on its strengths.
I mean certainly, as a lover and avid reader of hard science-fiction, you don't have to tell me that.
Still a long shot life goal to hopefully one day be able to watch a manned Mars landing happen... All the better if I also get to watch a Moon landing (or more) happen in my lifetime too.
I know that Moon missions and possible Mars missions aren't like "useful" or whatever other stupid complaints you hear, but idk, it is nice to have news that fills you with a feeling other than total misanthropy once every fucking decade
Totally forgot that in addition to being the first actually good news in like 10 years the Artemis II mission means we get more completely breathtaking photos from beyond Earth Orbit

I would wager that almost without fail now, I can look at a single image or sometimes even the thumbnail of a game on Steam and immediately clock "that's AI huh" and be right
In addition to the ubiquitously weird and AI-iconic "shininess" that everything has, every element has the same visual weight to it. There's nothing that draws your eye, there's no composition, no contrast. Because the machine doesn't know what those things are (nor does the idiot using it)
I have realized, going through steam every now and then over the last few months, that we've reached the point where every single AI generated image looks the exact fucking same.
(Which is good, really- the red flags are now apparently inescapably built in to the process)
2026 Mood
This legit looks like something I would probably buy regularly, they look like mini wheats that aren't awful

Hanna Fondant. Was originally gonna be a study of Yashiro Nanaco, but I felt it worked better "normal". Similar to the Sheena one but I don't mind, very happy with it, good way to cap off March.
