Adversaries have had a long day; they might not have all their hp or features.
Tune fights by reducing enemy toughness by narrative without nerfing them in essence.

I didn’t mind it, sometimes saving that high power weapon at low dur for the right moment feels great. Otherwise just use the highest power all the time, no need to buy new. It has its place.

They dumped the healing potion and offered a prayer to the “god of life” because it sounded dramatic.
We wait.
I killed off the kid’s favorite funny npc.
Up until then, they had no real concept of stakes and consequences.
The way they immediately immersed in stunned grief and *got it*.
I helped them through the feelings and let it sit heavy.
Then I asked if anyone had anything to try and help… :)
Upon further review, my players couldn’t handle strahd.
They’re more like Hotel Transylvania
