It was great to have our very own Freddy speak with @FulhamCrossGirlsSchool about what it's like to be a lawyer and to work with survivors of human trafficking. It was terrific to see so many students engaged with the topic and excited about the possibility of making a positive change through law.

'The BBC articles last week are alarming in their sensationalism and partiality. In conflating the activities of fraudsters and legitimate immigration advisers, all they have done is increase division and misinformation.'

(3) Being survivor-centred isn’t just about the work we do externally; it must also be reflected internally to create meaningful change. Read our untapping the power report here: www.atleu.org.uk/cases-news/u...
(2)By ensuring our lived experience group can engage in all areas of the organisation, we are enhancing our support to survivors of #humantrafficking and informing how we advocate on their behalf.
(1) We were thrilled to have one of our changemakers sit on the interview panel for a new staff member at ATLEU. Lived-experience leadership is vital to every aspect of our work.

We are marching for survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery, and all migrants who are being scapegoated by the rise in aggression against migrants in the UK. We are marching in the name of compassion, hope, unity, and community.

(1) Today, we were at the @togetheralliance.bsky.social Alliance march in central London to protest the rise of the far-right. The threat of the far-right isn’t on the fringes of society anymore; it is being legitimised in the media and parroted by politicians.
(3) At a time when division is being amplified, it’s more important than ever to show that there is another way. There is real strength in numbers, so march with us this Saturday and be part of something positive.
(2) We are marching for everyone that is affected and will be affected by the rise of the far-right, but particularly for our clients, friends, and survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery, who are being targeted by far-right hostility.
(1) This Saturday, we’ll be marching with the @TogetherAlliance to stand against the rise of the far right. We refuse to let hate and fear divide our communities or define our future. Instead, we’re coming together to stand for hope, compassion, and solidarity.

(3) This means:
➡️addressing the consequences of prolonged waiting.
➡️ ensuring survivors have the right to work, so they can rebuild independence and dignity.
➡️recognising family reunification as a key part of recovery and long-term protection

(2) ‘If we are serious about tackling modern slavery, we must look beyond rescue and identification. We must focus on what allows survivors to truly recover and move forward’
(1) This week, our Changemakers spoke at the Independent Anti-slavery commissioner's Lived Experience Advisory Panel. They spoke about the impacts of waiting & not being able to work and the importance of parent/child reunions in safeguarding children & supporting survivor recovery.
If the government have apparently started listening, it's long overdue; let's compromise on a few more of these proposals while we are at it, shall we?

We have joined Together Alliance to stand against racism. We won't let fear and hate divide us. March with us in Central London on the 28th of March at 12 pm and stand up against the far-right. #TogetherAlliance #28March #Together
(3) This is a deliberate system that enables exploitation while shielding the company from responsibility. Workers are left exposed, their rights are undermined, and UK workers are undercut. Read more about this here: www.atleu.org.uk/cases-news/l...
(2) This case exposes a broader strategy designed to avoid accountability. P&O’s parent company, Carnival Corporation, established a separate employment business in Bermuda to hire crew members, sidestepping the protections demanded by UK employment law. www.atleu.org.uk/cases-news/l...
(1) Our client is bringing legal action against P&O Cruises' parent company, Carnival Corporation, after being unlawfully dismissed shortly after being diagnosed with breast cancer. This decision halted her treatment, putting her life at risk. www.atleu.org.uk/cases-news/l...
(2) Our government has now suspended refugee family reunions. This #Mother'sDay, we urge them to reverse policies which have denied survivors the chance to reunite safely with their children.
(1) This is the reality for many mothers and survivors of #ModernSlavery in the UK.
This #MothersDay, our thoughts are with the mothers who are facing the ongoing pain of being separated from their children.
(2) The government must:
➡️Carry out a full impact assessment to show the impact of these changes
➡️Have a debate and vote on these changes
➡️Scrap the retrospective application of these changes so that it does not apply to those who are already on their path to settlement’
(1) Yesterday, hundreds of us attended parliament for a mass lobby against the government's new #earnedsettlement proposal. These proposals will have a disproportionate impact on survivors of trafficking and modern slavery, and even increase the risk of re-trafficking.
(3) Did we miss you this time? No worries! 📩 Sign up for our mailing list today to learn more about TCAG and upcoming events by
(2) Thank you also to everyone who attended yesterday’s event, and for sharing our commitment to improving access to compensation for survivors.
(1) Thank you so much to our speakers at yesterday’s #TCAG meeting, Kate Stone from @gcnchambers.bsky.social, and a big thank you to @cloisterslaw.bsky.social for hosting us!
(3) It was also lovely to chat with tonyvaughanmp.bsky.social at the mass lobby about the impact these proposals will have on survivors of trafficking and modern slavery, and the possibilities of fighting against the #EarnedSettlement proposals' retrospective application.
