a simple reminder that Bret Stephens once wrote a column describing hatred of Israel as a “disease of the Arab mind” and got hired by the Times AFTER that
Tidal is a solid alternative! Pays at least a touch more and this guy has been getting worse and worse.
Me: So much weirder seeing brazen evil on LinkedIn because people post shit like "we just created a hydrogen bomb that self-deploys from the Facebook chat window on behalf of Customs and Border Patrol" and everyone in the comments responds "🎉Congrats!!!🥳" Katrina Mulligan, National Security at OpenAI: 🇺🇸 Big news: I’m excited to share that OpenAI has been awarded a $200 million contract with DOD through CDAO. This contract will bring OpenAI’s industry-leading expertise to help the Defense Department identify and prototype how frontier AI can transform how it accomplishes its mission in service of the American people. We also announced that we are organizing all of our public sector work under a new initiative: OpenAI for Government. Even more news: I’ll be moving over to help stand up this initiative. Through OpenAI for government, we’re going to help accelerate the U.S. government’s adoption of AI and deliver AI solutions that make a tangible difference for the American people. This is just the beginning. Exciting times ahead—stay tuned! 🇺🇸 Above a post that says "Introducing OpenAI for Government"

If anyone wants a case study of someone with a long Duolingo streak who has learned next to nothing I'm game.
Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales Husband of Jonathan Joss My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done. Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic. When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life. Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future. He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together. If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband. Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built. Tristan Kern de Gonzales
Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today.
I'm so angry.
HOT TAKE: Clair Obscur is a bad game because it's ruined some other games for me by being so good.
A clarifying, if highly alarming piece. His point linking Trump tariff policy to a personal barter system is highly revelatory.

chart of how drivers' reaction time slow, comparing drink driving to use of touch screens
Let's take a closer look:
This chart shows the percentage increase in distracted drivers' response times. An undistracted driver typically reacts in 1 second.
Now, compare the response of a drink drive limit to using in-car touch screens.
Wow, we are now being officially advised against travel to the USA by the Canadian Association of University Teachers. I never thought I'd see the day. ☹️ #AcademicChatter
Thanks for sharing that!
Am I right that basically every experiment on UBI comes to this conclusion?
(and while we are at it let's find some money for all those upcoming scholars from our universities!)
With a bit of government ambition (read, funds), Canada has a generational opportunity to recruit some amazing scholars from the U.S. If ever there's a time to think ambitiously about post secondary, it's now.
It's like thanking a person who repeatedly kicks over wasp nests for a fly swatter.
(this is a comment more on their opportunism than a "oh Canadian companies are inherently moral" sentiment)
It came as little surprise to me when I read that Barrack Gold was among the earliest to talk about relocating to the US.
Avowed is a lot of fun, folks. Such an imaginative world, and really interesting story beats.
A panel from Kate Beaton’s Hark a Vagrant, where a man warns the US president that the Canadians have arrived, and they’re all fucked up on hockey.

That was a wildly cathartic game.
What no "if you were an animal what would you be and why?"
Angus has become one of the key voices of the NDP to me these days.

Beautiful.
Making fun of cybertruck drivers is now an act of patriotism.
Pleased to announce that I've had enough drinks to engage in full throated exclamations about the excellence of Clement Attlee's government.
