Silly stove… one of the dual burners only powers up the outer ring, but it does seem to pay attention to the dial. Another dual burner only lights up the center, and it’s either fully on. (No low or mid). I’m sure it’s repairable, but with so many failures, there may be a new stove in my future.

Truth: the smoke detector detected fire, likely ions from the smoke I could see and smell. Thankfully I was home, so I could trigger the emergency shutoff.
