Reform voters are claiming that every one of the Reform councillors who’ve resigned from Durham County Council are ‘plants’ who only stood for election in order to resign and undermine the Reform administration. Reform voters themselves are warning us that their own candidates can’t be trusted.
I've just signed the Restore Labour Democracy statement.

We demand an end to the factional culture coming from the top of the Labour Party that has sidelined members and helped alienate voters.

I'll tell you who's 'holding Britain to ransom'. It's 156 billionaires, not 77,000 resident doctors.
Reform UK energy plans crumble under scrutiny
…evidence shows green jobs and growth are already powering the UK economy
Reform UK Ltd gets 92% of its funding from climate change deniers and fossil fuel corporate interests.

🚨NEW 🚨 Reform UK say they’re against solar farms. But when it came time to discuss one in Lincolnshire this week, their top councillors on a planning committee didn’t even show up.

Reform UK has always had a tenuous link to the truth, a tradition continued by Sarah Pochin, the MP for Runcorn and Helsby. She posted a video complaining about issues in Greenway Road, Runcorn. The problem? Well people who actually live there have no idea what she’s on about.🔽
Reform has lost 11 councillors and 2 MPs in a matter of months… and when I say ‘lost’ I mean, they’ve quit following rows, impropriety or inability to do their jobs.
So, if Brexit weren’t proof enough, then this barrelling shitshow should confirm forever that they should be nowhere near govt.
🚨It’s another week and another potential scandal for Reform UK, as MP James McMurdock removed the whip from himself over the weekend, ahead of the Sunday Times reporting that two of his companies, said to be effectively dormant, claimed Covid Bounce Back loans to the tune of £70,000.
DURHAM MINERS’ GALA, SATURDAY 12 JULY: Tony Benn was a true giant of the labour movement and he spoke at Durham Big Meeting more than anyone else in its history.
In his memoirs he captured the spirit and emotion of Europe’s biggest and best celebration of working class culture and solidarity.
Seen tonight on Darren Grimes’ Twitter page. My cover’s blown. I’ve been sussed out!
These results are bleak but we cannot give up.
Today, the HOPE not hate team have been working up plans to hold Reform to account and to prevent more gains in the huge set of elections next year.
But we need support so if you can, please donate today secure.hopenothate.org.uk/page/170607/...
Working class solidarity is the foundation of our communities and on May Day we remember the workers whose sacrifice, determination and resistance gave life to the pit villages we love so much today.

Well done Marie, and best wishes for the future.
“He and his party have never run anything – a local council, a parish council. He’s spent a lifetime doing what he accuses others of doing, which is riding the political gravy train”
Farage will take your votes and then take the piss. Don’t give him that chance.

At the Durham Miners’ Association’s International Workers’ Memorial Day service in Seaham this morning.
Remember the dead. Fight for the living.
In 1970 someone in the richest 0.01% was 42x richer than the average person.
In 2000 they were 600x richer than the average person.
Now it is over 2000x.
Making the rich richer, makes YOU poorer.
Please read & share this, it took me ages. This is a project I was trying (and failing) to get funding for for a year. I came close, but I wanted to write it up anyway and share some of the photos because I think it's important to get them out there.

It’s a fantastic piece of work Marie, and it was a pleasure to play even just a small part in it. I only wish the funding bid had come to fruition. Keep up the great work. Our stories need to be heard.

Members of the Blackhall Banner Group met last night to finalise plans for next month's fundraiser to mark 40 years since the end of the 84-85 Strike and the 25th Anniversary of the Banner Group, which we set up to promote the culture and heritage of coal mining in our community. Details to follow.
Our poor little Elena 8 years ago today. At 4 years old she’d already cottoned on that a lifetime of supporting Sunderland was going to send her hopes soaring one day only to crush them underfoot the day after.
40 years ago today the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike ended.
Still proud to be the enemy within.

#OtD 1 Mar 1912 over 1 million British coal miners went on strike for a nationwide minimum wage for coal miners. 37 days into the strike the government caved and passed the Coal Mines Act, establishing a minimum wage for the first time stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/8...
