I’m working my way through Jeremy Brett’s *Sherlock Holmes* while knitting a Christmas gift blanket.

Oh.
And we should probably do international law on crimes against humanity and the Rome Statute.
We’ll get back to the genocides of the Nazis in a minute.
Okay. So tomorrow’s new lesson plan for my Genocide Studies class is:
1) reviewing the UN declaration on genocide
2) reviewing the Protestant Reformation
3) and new learning about the Avignon papacy
This is why lesson plans are written in pencil.
On Monday in my grade 11 Genocide Studies class we stood in the footprint of a gas chamber at Treblinka that I had marked on the floor and talked about 1942.
Same here. Students who I had taught in earlier years couldn't believe what I was saying. There may have also been a smattering of applause.
I may be misremembering but I always associate Bridewell with the incarceration of sex-workers and picking oakum.
Ah. So I won’t be attending my birthday party in Oakville. So much for “public” transit.
Is “renovate” the word we’re going with? Like it’s a cute little diy?
They are converting warehouse into concentration camps. That what they did at Oświęcim in 1940.
Yes! I gave up driving nearly a year ago but I still take note of the price at then pump as the bus goes by. I use it as a way to gauge the mood of the stock market.
I LOVE this show and greatly appreciate the play by play. 🚨
Lilo and Stitch. I need the WHOLE box of tissues.
I’ve never made it past the first 15 minutes of Up. I need to go have a lie-down.
Moriyama was an alumni of the school I teach at. The ignorant disrespect for this building and natural space always makes me incandescent with rage.
They changed the locks on some classrooms overnight without telling anyone and a colleague thought perhaps he’d been fired 🤣
Ooohhhh! From what faculty? I’ve got one from Brock. He was quite intrigued by my marking policies as well.
Too late. Just jammed my finger unjamming the photocopier. 🫤
Why does the #CBC hate the arts?!? This is just as awful a hack job with commercials as the opening ceremony.
I always used to start my philosophy classes by telling my students it was my goal for them to leave more confused than when they arrived. 🙃
Thank you. I really appreciate this.
Hello #skystorians. I’m looking to learn more about Treblinka, the extermination camp, for the Genocide Studies class I teach. So many of the studies are out of print. Do you have any suggestions?
Me too. And I include some drawings in the PowerPoint lesson. I have a student volunteer read “I Never Saw Another Butterfly”. I can’t get through it. Students are very moved.
We used the World War One collection in my grade 10 Canadian history class this morning!
The best trip was when I sat next to a veteran of the Korean war. I asked him if he was excited for the flight. He say he was, but he was REALLY excited about the landing. He'd been a paratrooper!
I've flown in the one at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum a few times. When you build an aircraft that can long haul bricks, just putting a dozen people in it mean that it DOES NOT want to land!
Dark chocolate biscuits(although possibly cakes; this is much disputed) with an orange jelly filling.
For a biscuit / cookie / cake? can’t beat a Jaffa Cake. For bonbons, dark chocolate and raspberry.
Bless.
Can we see the cat?
Nay bother! 🇨🇦
I teach in Ontario and use it to teach about propaganda but we usually talk about what the State wan’t out of an education system.
Disney produced a propaganda film loosely based on it in 1943. I show in to my grade 10 history class.

Questions I tried to answer from the young men in my grade 12 history class today:
What do I think the chances are we’ll reinstate conscription?
What are our chances if US troops mass at the border?
If we do conscript, what is our capacity to arm and train them?
Heart broken to hear their worries.
