"Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial: Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later."

“If it was really that bad you would go to the hospital”
Chronically ill people hear this all the time.
People in our lives struggle to understand the hospital is a dangerous place.
There’s no easy “fix” for chronic illnesses & a myriad of ways we could potentially be harmed.
Truly mentally emotionally exhausted this term. I don't think I've ever looked fwd to the end of this term until now.
I'll still be taking classes in the spring and working, but really hoping I can rest well to do more I didnt get to do this term

New: 150 unionized ProPublica workers are on strike TODAY over AI, layoff protections, wages, and more.
They're asking readers to not visit ProPublica or engage with content on other platforms. It's the first work stoppage of its kind at the newsroom.

These things are noticed.
Patients and colleagues may not confront you, because there are power imbalances and other factors…
but they are noticed, and not in a good way.
Please stay home when sick. Wear a properly fitted respirator at work. It’s the professional thing to do.

Been quiet due to the onslaught of schoolwork + research stuff + articles post midterm season...the end of the tern approaches and I'm so ready to take a break (especially also to do more cc work!)

Reminder: including alt-text on your images is helpful in many ways! It increases accessibility, can add context/detail, makes search more effective, & can improve your reach (a lot of us won’t re-share images without alt-text). If you set it as required in accessibility settings, you can’t forget!
This is ENRAGING.
I have older kids now but even when they were little, I’m pretty sure they didn’t get one cold per month with each lasting an average of 14 days.
We are normalizing the amount of sickness in kids.
And it’s head-shaking to witness.

Been quiet due to work + school, but also needed some time to step back and recharge a bit. I'm very much alive though and still in the game ✨️
a picture of a child asleep in bed with a stuffed monkey. Text says "Long COVID can last weeks, months, or years after COVID-19 infection and affect people of all ages, even if they had no previous health conditions. Effects of Long COVID include: Permanent damage to the brain, lungs, heart, and other organs Heart palpitations Difficulty breathing Fatigue Memory loss Dizziness Chest pain Difficulty thinking ("brain fog") Persistent cough And much more Long COVID can cause long-term disability, even if you were young and healthy.. Long COVID can affect anyone. The only way to be sure to avoid Long COVID is to avoid COVID-19. Wear the highest quality mask available to you, stay up to date on vaccines, and maintain clean, ventilated air indoors.
Today is Long COVID Awareness Day. Long COVID can affect people of all ages & cause permanent organ damage, leave you unable to work or do the things you love, & more. Protect yourself from Long COVID by avoiding COVID-19. Learn more about disability from Long COVID: www.hhs.gov/civil-rights...
I hope this
#LongCovidAwarenessDay
manages to open at least one set of eyes about the scope and depth of this ongoing problem.
I hope one more person decides to start wearing K/N95 masks to protect themselves & others from contracting or exacerbating this horrific illness.
Screenshot of an article headline in The Hamilton Spectator: “Opinion | Why do progressives and justice advocates seem to not care about COVID? It’s still important to warn people about the dangers of COVID and make schools and workplaces safe, Andrew Wilkin says. Updated March 13, 2026 at 6:00 a.m.”
For #LongCovidAwarenessDay — I know so many of us would love to see progressives start to be consistent in their progressive values:
“Governments modelling abandonment.. in time of crisis signal support to fascist, eugenicist & Nazi logic.. pandemics can give rise to fascist political economies”
Philly Philly representin’ this weekend! 👏👏👏International LC Awareness Day (March 15th) scrolling atop the @pecoconnect.bsky.social building! Check it out, if you are local.
It’s International Long Covid Awareness Day.
One of the best things you can do to support people with Long Covid is wear a mask (ideally a respirator like an N95).
Masks break chains of transmission.
They prevent infection.
The only way to avoid Long Covid is to avoid Covid!
For #LongCovid Awareness Day, we’re releasing the 2026 Long Covid Fact Sheet! This is a list of key statistics about LC, using recent data to reflect contemporary risks.
We hope this will be useful for journalists, policymakers, patients, & others! /1

Journalist Sara Murphy is working on a story about the impact of climate disasters on people with #LongCOVID, focusing on the American South. She would love to connect with people who had to manage the recent ice storms and extreme cold, or even previous disasters. Contact: hello@saramurphyphd.com.
Never forget how beautiful this all is. Never stop imagining how much more beautiful it could be.
This is so frustrating and disheartening. I spent months in 2020-21 on this feature about how all psychologists needed to prepare for an influx of Long Covid patients, yet APA's work largely stopped there. www.apa.org/monitor/2021...

As most of the COVID -safe/-aware community can tell you, try wearing a mask everywhere & declining indoor eating invitations and then see how many friends you have left.
One reason I'm so disappointed in influencer doctors & scientists with massive platforms who downplay masking is that maskers already face enormous stigma. Public health deserted us. Politicians mock us. But scientists too?
I'll always side with the most vulnerable & powerless
I know, that at this point,
you have more than enough reasons
to be wearing a mask
but considering a new report
has found “data centers’
air pollution associated
with lung issues, death,”
you now have yet another reason.
abled people: can u do the thing?? disabled people:...technically yes BUT it would hurt like hell/ruin my day/trigger a flare/exhaust me/be a fall risk/make me more sick AND THEN i would have to spend a day in bed/increase my dosage/cancel all my other plans/spend a week recovering afterwards abled people:...but you CAN do it [2 people talking 1400s or something] oh, they are such dicks about spoons!
Most accurate thing I've ever read
