But we will never change it because our voting system is the best in the country *by faaaaar.*

If Oregon changed its system to what these dummies want, Democrats would receive MORE votes because:
1) Dems here are more educated and more committed to voting; and
2) Dems are concentrated in urban areas where it is much easier to do outreach and for voters to reach a ballot site.
Yes, please. And thank you very much
Ugh. I hate this matchup. Neither of these albums should be eliminated this early. In a fun twist of fate (ahem) I’ll be seeing both GZA & Liquid Swords as well as Dylan in about 4 and 6 weeks, respectively. So I might regret this vote after—and Wu-Tang ain’t nothin to fuck with—but I’m going Dylan.
Well deserved! It was a fascinating read.
I had a buddy who was really into them. He was visiting me in 2001 around the same time as the release of Satellite Rides, and dragged me to a show. It fuckin ruled. I never owned a copy of that album, but 25 years later I still recognize most of the tracks. Old 97s get the nod today.
Legitimately tough matchup. On paper, I should like The Knife here based on my usual tastes, but I weirdly kind of find this album annoying-ish. Their next album is an all-timer, but this one just doesn’t get anywhere close. Meanwhile, Old 97s are one of those bands I should have written off, but …
Lazer-focused on the important things
Yeah, that’s just what we needed: the Three Body Problem to be a true account instead of science fiction.
Same. One of my all time fav PDX venues. Luna/Pine St. and the Blackbird are 1 and 2 in some order, and I’ll probably never decide which was the best.
The first time I ever heard Rilo Kiley was when I saw them open for Bright Eyes at La Luna in Portland. The members of Rainer Maria were in the audience too. Amazing show, and I became an instant fan.
Anyways, Rilo Kiley is still 100x better than Blink, so they get my vote.
Hoo boy. 14-year-old me and the homie were obsessed with Blink (this was before the -182 suffix), and listened to the “M+M’s” 7-inch on repeat for a whole summer. And then I guess I dismissed them as childhood whimsy just a couple years later. Revisiting them is…interesting and kinda fun, but …
About time!
Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
I’m still stewing over this NYT expose about the creation of the shadow docket, and what an absolute hack and hypocrite John Roberts is. Anyone following the Court already suspected that correspondence like this existed, but to see it actually printed make me very stabby.
Okey doke!
No, but I’d be fine with allowing people to *legally* shoot sea lions, preferably with proper licensing. If they can be harvested for meat and blubber, great! If not, they become food for salmon and other fishies.
rivers are not their natural habitat. Also, there are lots of them.
6. Kill the asshole sea lions in the rivers.
7. It would be rad if MGP would champion green infrastructure as much as she wants to kill sea lions, but doing the latter is better than doing nothing.
3. Salmon populations continue to suffer tremendously, which affects their whole ecosystem as well as the NW economy.
4. We should take every step we can to help the salmon until the dams can be removed.
5. Sea lions are assholes who eat lots of salmon, and
There it is, the exact conversation I’ve had like 5 times already. Ima keep this brief:
1. Dams are bad and should be removed, absolutely, but
2. Dams are our main source of power, which is in ever greater demand, so they can’t be removed until we have the green energy infrastructure to replace them
Jesse Watters jorking it into his mouth
But my favorite part is that the album is available on 8-track.
8-TRACK!
Have you heard of Ghost in the Willow?
Evidently, this rich guy formed a vanity band and bought billboards all over Portland to advertise their album and a show at like, a 150 capacity venue. It’s amazing. www.reddit.com/r/Portland/s...

This seems to come up every few months on here, and every time I have to explain that, yes, MGP sucks generally, but she is correct about this issue to a bunch of people outside the PNW who know nothing whatsoever about the issue. It’s all so exhausting.
Definitely reposting this without context, lol.
Sounds to me Enya's been a-conjurin' night bogies, as such heathenish music is wont to do
I don’t often use the overextended word “iconic”, but as the adage goes, there are a hundred thousand songs about falling in love, but there’s only one song about the boys being back in town.
musically, lyrically, & sonically perfect, it’s as good as rock n roll gets.
Good reporting from PBS. I especially appreciate that, even though they parachuted in a national reporter, they still took time to interview a local reporter who actually understands the details and local politics surrounding the issue.
