Daily Mail Headline:
Pupils' drawings could be blasphemous under Islamic law, Labour councils tell schools - while music and dance classes may go against the teachings of Islam
Oh boy! What a headline...
Ask yourself:
"What am I being asked to believe?"
"Who am I being told to blame?"
Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.
Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧵

Gaza hospital says 21 children dead from malnutrition in 72 hours as UN warns 'last lifelines collapsing'
The UN says Israel must allow aid into Gaza, as a hospital director says 900,000 children in Gaza are suffering from hunger.
There are no words to convey the horror of 21 children in Gaza starving to death in the last 72 hours. There are no words to convey the horror of nearly a million more children being at risk of the same fate.
The UK cannot stay complicit in this atrocity.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

If the welfare reform bill goes through tomorrow- even with the so called concessions- millions of disabled people - now & in the future- are at risk. No one wants to be disabled.
Disability isn’t a life choice. Supporting those who are is a choice #TakingThePIP #WelfareNotWarfare #WelfareReformBill

A Fenland field full of pink, lilac, purple & white larkspur
There’s a field near here where flowers are farmed to sell to London florists & make confetti. It’s breathtaking. If you’re new to my posts maybe pause & take this image in, it will hack your brain slightly-trigger dopamine release & relax you a little to help with stress you might encounter today 🌿

Protest is sometimes the only way we can be heard – especially when speaking out on what's happening in Gaza and the West Bank.
If passed, this decision would have serious consequences for protest everywhere.
It must be stopped.

Our sister died because of our mum's cancer conspiracy theories, say brothers
Paloma Shemirani’s brothers say she refused chemotherapy because of their mother’s beliefs.
A gut-wrenching reminder that conspiracy theories and pseudoscience kills innocent people.
The extent to which Paloma’s care was influenced by her mother’s delusions is horrifying.
Beyond tragic.

Yes, I feel this too. And they aren't just distant people on the Internet, they're people in my street, family and community. Really horrible.

There are trans and queer kids for whom online spaces are their only refuge. Art kids who hone their craft via online spaces. Weird kids who find their people. The trick is not to ban it. It’s to regulate it and educate kids about it. But that’s much harder and more expensive so here we are.

Department for Education confirms launch of natural history GCSE
Campaigners have been calling for the qualification for years but plan stalled despite a curriculum being drawn up
Brilliant news! At last, confirmation that the Govt *will* go ahead with the #NaturalHistoryGCSE 🎉 We have to get to know our fellow travellers on this planet again. Young people who know & love nature are far more likely to protect & restore it - as well as enjoying better physical & mental health

This is a very good description of what it's like to claim pip. I'm a therapist, but supporting my husband through this process very nearly sunk me into depression. It is horrible.

When they do get access. Also are we banning all devices? Many of the social media platforms are accessible from tablets tablets, laptops etc. But phones seem to be the thing being banned. Stricter regulations and moderation on social media may be a better approach.

Wholeheartedly agree. It's important to be with children and walk alongside them through the digital landscape at an age where we can support them to reflect and learn. Banning phones and then suddenly giving access at a later time takes that opportunity away and they're more vulnerable

Cuts to disability benefits would be catastrophic
UK mutuals. Please consider signing this.
I know petitions are questionable in making meaningful change, but SCOPE do amazing work and arguably have some clout when it comes to disability advocacy.
