Bringing an old twitter thread over here. I like to compare Lucasfilm's and streaming Star Trek's work to Impressionist and Renaissance paintings. Despite having less detail, examples on the left look better than the ones on the right due to use of light and color. 1/

Actually pictured, rural Virginia voters
Breakfast my girlfriend and I made not too long ago.
The funniest bit was that her closing remark was "I just know you voted Liberal!"
Was at CostCo, and a woman complained to me about the beef being from Australia/Mexico (clearly an imported talking point), and how farmers here have it so hard
I know a fair bit about beef and the food supply chain - and wasn't buying this crud. Just confidently spewing misinformation
God this is an amazing graph. Succinctly describes the political climate of the country.
Bluesky has been crapping out all day for me too
Yeah a dummy one. The LAV would eventually get a real one (along with 60mm, 90mm of various types, and 105mm), but there are basically no photos of the 75mm floating around. A couple on ARES Inc.'s old webpage, and one in a Jane's IDR magazine from the mid 80s
@unavaleable.bsky.social you might find this interesting.

Simply crazy that this was the crap that Canada and the US were messing around with in 1980
MPWS Piranha, with dummy 75mm MCAAC, XM-274 in AAI turret at LETE. Part of early work that would culminate in the LAV, and various failed attempts at supplying the Marine Corps with a LAV-AG for fire support
“I’m strong and I want to have like fifty kids and a farm” of course you do. You’re twelve. “I don’t want to eat vegetables I think steak and French fries is the only meal” hell yeah homie you’re twelve. “Maybe if there’s crime we should just send the army” bless your heart my twelve year old buddy
working on a new unified theory of american reality i'm calling "everyone is twelve now"
Have said before but a lot of people want an excuse not to participate in civil society and have created a way to intellectually justify what is just rank apathy and extreme individualism
New GBAD RFP? Hyunmoo? Arctic Mobile Bases? AND A BLOODY MSVS REPLACEMENT?! What isn't in This Week's Edition of This Week in Defence?

This is straight up intellectually dishonest and contradicts your original point

Organians*
Between The 4 Days War, and the Khitomer Accords, what's the hottest the Cold War gets? Does the Pax Organia really put a lock on aggressive action?
And how do the Organisms become a non-factor over time?
Could use Smurfit Westrock WetTech to make it water proof too
This month Andy is joined by @seanferrick.bsky.social for a wide-ranging chat on Star Trek, criticism, and fandom — from Up's and Down's to the realities of engaging with modern Trek.
Avaliable now on Patreon, we hope to have a public feed up by the end of the month.
Starship Reliant with overloaded Comm systems.
Chambers coil emissions stinking up the joint.
I hope he's cursed to have his soul carry out each edit he is put in.
Dick Cheney would be loving this
no, the real issue with the Federation is that it's written by a bunch of TV show authors with mildly contradictory views of what "utopia" even is, and no interest in explaining it
