My dissertation was on the rise of artificial intelligence in medicine. I’ve wanted to do computational social science since high school, for some reason, and I feel so over the moon that I had support from my departments and committee members to work on this project
Really thrilled to have defended my dissertation yesterday with the most incredible committee and some lovely family and friends! Next month I’ll be a postdoc at the Center for Complex Networks Research at Northeastern University!

So @asanews.bsky.social emailed its membership its refusal to put a petition to Boycott, Divest, & Sanction Israel up to a vote, one that already had 438 signatures. This undemocratic decision, they wrote, is because they're worried about membership dropping.
Well do I have news for you.
If you are south of Batchelor this tornado is going to miss you. Expect that a tornado is likely still on the ground, moving directly into Bloomington.

Maybe you're already familiar, but I've been reading this ai.stanford.edu/~nilsson/QAI...
In Mr Beast’s new video, a woman is alone for two weeks on a platform in the sky. and each day, a balloon is released at an inopportune moment for her. And if she fails to shoot the balloon with an arrow, they take a small portion of the platform that is her home

Tornado threat for Bloomington is **over.** The tornadic part of the storm is about to graze the north end of Lake Monroe (Paynetown rec area).
Clear Creek friends, your threat is over now too, hope you made it through okay.

Yes
Recently, we learned CRRES will face severe budget cuts in 2025, requiring the elimination of campus staples like our Undergraduate Research Program.
“So many people mention us as a model, and then it leads to divestment... It just doesn't make sense.”

CRRES has made all the difference during my time at IU. These cuts are extremely short-sighted and reflect a failure on the part of the university to recognize the impact of race and ethnicity research taking place on their own campus.
Just to be clear: They laugh at our deaths too. From Reagan's team yucking it up over AIDS, to Obama ribbing the Jonas Bros about drone killings, to Jeb Bush and Jen Shealy laughing about Katrina, to the crossfit CEO joking about George Floyd's murder, to every single Covid overreaction joke...

Exactly perfectly put
A side by side of an op-ed from Emily Oster saying that we should stop telling people not to drink raw milk, because the risks are very small, next to an article explaining that bird flu has been detected in raw milk in California and that health officials in the state are now cautioning people not to drink raw milk
