Sir Cameron and the mad sorcerer Merulo in the castle library. Merulo is sitting on a chaise, reading, and Sir Cameron is sitting on the floor with his head against Merulo's lap. He asks, "What are you reading?" The sorcerer replies, "Just another ancient text in a forbidden language." "Wow, he's so smart," Cameron thinks. The sorcerer is reading the BDSM bible.
reading #ascntd gave me an incurable disease
OK so apparently this took off on Tumblr overnight and has accidentally served as free marketing for my mutual's book so HEY. HEY. IF YOU WANT SOME GOOD ASS READING.
"Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die" by @greerstothers.bsky.social
Gogogo get the book you know you wanna go readdddd it.
Sort of insane that I'm sitting at home, doing laundry and writing my silly little fanfiction, while my sister is trying to push a whole baby out of her body
Cute bunny with the words: I contain mountainous volumes of unfathomable existential anxiety & also whimsy
I contain mountainous volumes of unfathomable existential anxiety & also whimsy
I'm only 140 pages in, mind, so I might take it back later who knows
Reading iwtv for the first time and apparently, in the 70s, it was preferable to hint at romance between a grown man and a 5-year-old rather than between two men. Hmm. Lots of food for thought there.
I HATE FIRST DRAFTS SO MUCH!!!!!
Heated Rivalry girlies be like
Not when it comes to this show, it seems π
You know in heated rivalry when they're at the club & the song goes "they say it's my fault but I want her so much" as Ilya stares at Shane? And later, it goes "'cause I'm feeling for her what she's feeling for me" when Shane looks for Ilya in the crowd? Are we supposed to be normal about it or??
I'm sorry, *who* stars as Mary Poppins???
Thank you for reading and here's to many more pleasant surprises in 2026! (Hopefully)
December - 100 nights of Hero
The last movie of 2025! Much like Manfred, I was enchanted by Hero's story, as was I by Hero & Cherry's story. Another lovely surprise. Loved the vibes (fun, sarcastic & fantastic)
November - Cluny Brown (1946)
A comedy about odd bods finding each other in this mad, mad world and you thought I would not love it??? Ernst Lubitsch at his best tbh
October - twinless (2025)
5 stars. Instant fav. I had no idea I would love this movie so much. Both Dylan O'Brien and James Sweeney were excellent in it. There was a certain reservation in their performance. Something deep and true. Very moving. The screenplay was excellent and masterly written.
September - honourable mention to midnight (1939)
Billy Wilder co-wrote this and it showed. Claudette Colbert was charming as ever. Huge fun!
September - falling for Figaro (2020)
Watched most of this movie in Edinburgh airport while waiting for my flight home. I love musicals. I love opera & classical music. And I love movies about women surpassing other people's expectations of them. Of course I was going to love this one!
August - the enchanted cottage (1924)
I was charmed by the message this movie delivers (we're all beautiful in the eye of someone who loves us). A really cute watch.
Honourable mention to the lost king (2022)
I was very agreeably surprised & quite engrossed in the story
July - Ivan Tsarevitch and the changing princess (2016)
Princes and princesses is one of my favourite Michel Ocelot movies. Inevitably, watching this one was a joy. I love the work that goes into creating the shadow puppets + movies like this always make me want to watch more of Lotte Reiniger's
June - honourable mention to trouble in paradise (1932)
I had lots of fun watching this movie. It was also the first time I saw a movie with Miriam Hopkins who I thought was striking
June - lilies not for me (2024)
Haunting. Just haunting. But so, so important. I already talked about it here. A difficult watch tbf but I loved the vibes and the cinematography. Also, I discovered Erin Kellyman in this movie & am looking forward to seeing her in more movies!
May - a nice Indian boy (2024)
May was the year I finally watched a bunch of oscar nominated movies but this one was my fav by far. It's the queer romcom I've been waiting for my entire life. You get all the tropes straight romcoms get & no one dies. Bless. I'm making myself wanna rewatch it
April - the assessment (2024)
Not at all what I expected. I was surprised by it in the best way. All the actors were excellent. Alicia Vikander reigns supreme on my heart
March - the ghost & Mrs Muir (1947)
Possibly my favourite movie ever. I'm always taken by the love story, how romantic Captain Gregg can be, & how subtly funny it is (that moment when he makes her type fuck?? So clever!) The "it's been a dream, Lucia" scene has been haunting me for the past 9 years
February - the quiet girl (2022)
I enjoyed the slow-paced rhythm of the story but most importantly, the fact that most of the dialogues are spoken in Irish. Beautiful, unusual, and very very important. There should be a place for Celtic languages in the cinematographic industry
January - Nimona (2023)
Starting with rewatch. Also a favourite of mine. I love this story and these characters so much as well as the fact that Nimona's shapeshifting is a metaphor for transexuality. I feel like it's an important discourse even if it's subtle
My year in movies; one movie for each month of 2025 β¨
Well well. Falling in love with @kjcharleswriter.com 's books certainly wasn't on my bingo card this year but here we are. (However, as Jerry Crozier once said: I'm not sorry)
Looking forward to reading so many more in 2026!
