I just assume this is a feature of the school shooter type, of which these guys are all extremely vivid examples
Because it‘s a cult
IT theater actively does the opposite of what it is claiming to do and some ridiculously high percentage of recent hacks are IT people clicking a phishing link claiming to be a very important training or upgrade for only the smartest IT professionals
Kant is explicitly trolling everyone involved plus some others and then Hegel was like "What if we take this literally but also we eventually do still create the perfect logic because German Nationalism"
Big Statistics has pushed the lie for decades that dice are random, when in fact they are sinister demons sent to torture you.
Posts like these are so crazy because half of the answers are movie theory crafting or real life people shipping and the other half are people who secretly believe that we did visit the moon but had no way to transmit the footage so the moon landing was faked anyway
I mean ok this is like my entire personality as a question but the only important one is that social media and its perpetuation, including the fiscal and legislative government support it gets, is a purposeful move to make the electorate stupid and even more easily swayed by propaganda they consume
If you find yourself typing something like "Ha! Take that Pooklebinky!" consider the possibility there are better uses of your time
The Illuminati were real and it was RAW and his five closest friends
I got a reel the other day about how obviously tomatoes are not native to India and a lot of their food is downstream of the Portuguese trading there in the 16th century (so Italy and India would both have started cooking tomatoes around that time... with influence from the Portuguese)
not even the main point, but Murray's notion of flattening the entirety of human behavior to a binary 'duller<---->smarter' axis itself is very, very dumb.
Scott Alexander: "I started SlateStarCodex to promote race realism"
Too many centrists who can't let go of being told they're smart and wanna tell me about the latest cool thing Scoot wrote: "but I liked *this* article"

People considering ditching substack, this might be of interest.
PS: ditch substack
OK - we're going to try Beehiiv again folks! If you're subscribed you should receive an email very shortly!
...I'm not gonna get into a debate here, partly because I have lots of work to do tonight, but also because the piece says everything I feel needs to be said. feel free to boycott Substack if you wish! but singularly focusing on that platform but not other just-as-evil platforms is baffling to me
If you’re overwhelmed by the news cycle, you’re not alone.
We make sense of it.

The NYT is a fascist rag
The NYT removing all their articles from Internet Archive because of "AI training" is so wild because X/Twitter, a direct AI competitor, has everything on the IA (including all old tweets from people like me who deleted their accounts after Musk bought it)
The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a comedy site with satirical echoes of the fringe conspiracy theories that Mr. Jones is known for. Tim Heidecker, one of the comedians behind “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, has been hired to serve as “creative director of Infowars.” He said he initially plans to parody Mr. Jones’s “whole modus operandi.” Mr. Heidecker has been working on his impression of Mr. Jones. But eventually, when that joke gets old, Mr. Heidecker said that he hoped to turn Infowars into a destination for independent and experimental comedy. “I just thought it would be just a beautiful joke if we could take this pretty toxic, negative, destructive force of Infowars and rebrand it as this beautiful place for our creativity,” Mr. Heidecker said in an interview. During a recent trip to Philadelphia, he traveled to the Liberty Bell to film a video in character as the new creative director of Infowars.
Get excited.

If people try to talk about AI in an interview then I will ask additional questions to see if they actually know how it works and could for example create their own RAG or MCP and security for same but I think if they do not ask assume they are not interested in AI expertise
Reply is better because they have the opportunity to block me and remove it and also put me on the funny Feed of replies that got users blocked
Finally some good news. I thought this wasn't happening
With the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars.
We've enlisted the help of @timheidecker.bsky.social, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director.
Please stand by for more.
Hey everybody! I am taking the helm of this classic American institution with @theonion.com and want to know what you fine folks would like to see from us.
This is many of you, I’m afraid
