I find myself thinking a lot just now about GK Chesterton's line that we 'need to hate the world enough to change it, but love it enough to think it worth changing'.
Proud to be part of a Group that offers a viable alternative and doesn't accept year after year of cuts 🌹
Good to take Superintendent Baldock and Sargent Goodman from Bromley Borough's Neighbourhood Police team around Plaistow ward today.
Many important local issues discussed alongside @alisaigoe.bsky.social
Thanks for your support Liam
Bromley Council want to introduce parking charges for disabled Blue Badge holders.
It will isolate some of our most vulnerable residents.
My letter to the Conservative Leader of Bromley Council asking him to stop these callous and ill-thought through plans ⬇️
Really powerful words, brilliantly put. Solidarity with Jess Phillips.

Incredibly proud of all the work my cousin has done in helping to get the assisted dying bill to where it is now.
This is Lucy's story. TW: it's a difficult read.

The right decision. Well done to my Bromley Labour colleagues for challenging this.
Today is #WhiteRibbonDay. It's vitally important to raise awareness and tackle male violence against women and girls.
Men, we need to hold ourselves accountable and take a stand.
Daily Mail front page “Starmer declares war on benefits Britain”
Chart showing Britain’s benefits are just a third of the OECD average, and the lowest in Europe
Anyone who thinks our benefit system is too generous, has clearly had their common sense surgically extracted by the Daily Mail.
Losing your job is financially catastrophic (esp for mortgage payers, who drop to just 12% of an average wage overnight). And our sickness benefits bill is similarly mean.
There's so many heartbreaking cases like this.
Signing up to the stem cell register is quick and donating is usually pretty straightforward.
The impact however, is lifesaving.
We are deeply saddened to hear the news that John Prescott has died. John was a staunch defender of local government & a passionate supporter of devolution. He was a great campaigner who will be missed by so many in our Party.
Our thoughts are with Pauline, Jonathan & David.
As temperatures drop to freezing, the @mayorofldn.bsky.social and London Councils have activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP), which means that London boroughs and City Hall will be opening up emergency accomodation for rough sleepers.
Graph showing poverty levels including child poverty reaching 36%
Shocking news. 36% of UK children are living in poverty according to the latest Social Metrics Commission research (I am one of the Commissioners)

It's great to see so many London Labour councillors here on Bluesky.
I've created this starter pack to help people find some of the best! Give them all a follow 🌹
Reply here if there's anyone I've missed.

🧵There's a line of thought that Trump's victory means progressive causes are doomed in the court of public opinion. I don't think that's true, but I do think it shows more thought needs to be given to what ought to be a tautology but infact often isn't - inclusive progressivism.
The Tories promised to end no fault eviction in 2019 and failed to deliver in 5 years, because despite having an 80 seat majority they were in hoc to their backbenchers.
Great to hear Labour will get this done quickly, with legislation coming next week. www.theguardian.com/money/articl...
Bluesky feels like moving onto a new house. It's lovely, but need time to make it feel like home. Wonder what the neighbours are like 🤔
Let's hope no moronic billionaires come in and trash the place.
