Mateta getting some minutes takes some pressure of Strand Larsen, props up Mateta’s value (and maybe helps him towards the France WC squad) ahead of the summer when he leaves. But JSL getting the odd goal would help him massively!

I can’t fathom why you would buy a moments player like Eze, who had already been desperately unlucky not to score shortly beforehand, and sub him off when you need a goal.

If you don’t start him and then bring him on to change the game it makes sense, but taking him off in that game state doesn’t.

Also if one side does well they’ll be doubling up, eg a Senesi/Sruijk clean sheet also means a Hill/Darlow one for many of them.

Enzo is optimal if he plays both games, but Gross is the safe pick.

The big advantage is that most of us will have a similar squad, but I have to pick the optimal XI and you don’t.

I have Verbruggen and Hill on the bench, so if they get hauls and Darlow and Senesi flop, you’ll still get the points. I won’t! 🤣

Utd are in the process of rowing back from a back 3 approach, and despite the Amorim recruitment to supprt it, Carrick has shown that their current personal are far better suited to a back 4.
