Mic, officially, dropped
💬 Nick Hawker concludes:
We are creatures of habit. We need people to come and watch and the more that come and watch the better this gets. The feedback we get from people that haven’t been before is fantastic, so come along and support the team.
💬 Abbie Britton: We’ve had some fantastic support at Coach Road and we thank everyone for their support and those people that have travelled to support us.
💬 Jen Dixon: With the ground grading requirements at this level, it is currently under discussion on how we can get a single venue for the Women’s team.
💬 Bow Jackson: Football has developed so much. The standard of this league now is far greater than it’s ever been.
💬 Jen Dixon: We’re setting up the contractual side for players. A year one priority is retaining current players and we have the process from the board to progress that.
💬 Bow Jackson: We work hard and we do so because we love the club, that’s the club that we’ve built and we wouldn’t want to lose that.
💬 Abbie Britton: The next level is a whole different level. The gap is big but we can close it, it will take time and patience, but we can get there in a sustainable way. We’ll do it the Exeter way.
💬 Jen Dixon: We are working towards a shared vision. The club now has two first teams. The challenges are to be a sustainable team and that we are part of a greater community. We want to get more people into the stadiums. Women’s football is a product in its own right.
💬 Bow Jackson: The provisions weren’t there when I was younger. My first proper team wasn’t until I was 16. There’s a lot of girls that are in our team who I have coached and they never fail to remind me how old I am!
💬 Abbie Britton: We train late, we train from 8pm - 10pm and it’s hard after a days work for the girls. It’s difficult to manage the load and balance for the team but I have a special group.
💬 Jen Dixon: We’ve got a new limited company that is owned by the club, to ensure our governance and principles are in line with the football club.
💬 Jen Dixon: The first bit since July has been about working really hard to make sure the team are good to play… my first priority was around making sure we had a dual-venue and we were ready to play our first game.
Nick Hawker introduces this evening’s Forum:
💬 Abbie has been amazing in the way she has transitioned the team… wherever the team play, please support them as much as you can!
