As a Midwestern elder millennial, most peers treated Pitchfork's early web presence as gospel. I was more enamored with AMG's commitment to contextualizing an album in terms of an artist's discography & the genre as a whole. Even with some favorite contributors gone I'm glad this practice continues.

Still thinking about yesterday... We took the dogs out and someone was returning from work, driving alone with their windows down, and what was clearly an episode of Two and a Half Men was playing from their car stereo.
Iβm thinking about disseminating an account of a baseball game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball
Frank Sinatra's "The Best is Yet to Come" starts playing. Me to a group of mostly strangers: "Did y'all know this song is about the orgasm gap?"
I fucking love my wife.
Discovering individuals like this offer a (much needed) reminder that the internet still has folks willing to preserve popular culture... And with greater fervour than the companies looking for new ways to charge us for the same bad transfers / ports / "remasters."
"Having an Average Weekend," probably better recognized as ππ©π¦ ππͺπ₯π΄ πͺπ― π΅π©π¦ ππ’ππ theme song, somehow always hits for me.
I'm sure I'm not the first and no intended commentary here, but every mention of Sabrina Carpenter / "Man's Best Friend" all I can picture is Bobbi Flekman. youtu.be/rOSAumt6YF4?...
And as soon as I post this, they do an all Brian encore.
Finally saw the Lemon Twigs tonight (with support by Mod Lang), and it was great to hear power pop alive & well. Their excellent harmonies felt particularly apropos in light of Brian Wilson.
What's more humbling? Buttering bread in the nude at 12:17am for a late night snack, or having to squint as you butter because you left your glasses upstairs?
Okay, this is my newest very very favorite meme.
My feed lined up perfectly for this.
A lot to love here.
We can easily make this happen.
With the help of a friend, I finally finagled a way to get Baldur's Gate 3 up and running for @muppet.bsky.social on our giant TV. Walked into the other room to empty the dishwasher and minutes later I hear: "Well, talking to animals fucking rules."
I agree completely! I wondered if Alan's comment was in reference to how long the camera lingered on Burt's address - but as a former (and seemingly 20 year!) Lummon employee why would Drummond need to get Burt's address from outie Irv's research?
33 years and one day apart.

And two contemporary runs I didn't see mentioned, but absolutely deserving.
Dr. Dog: Fate (2008), Shame, Shame (2010), Be the Void (2012) and B-Room (2013).
@lowcutconnie.bsky.social: Dirty Pictures Pt.1 (2017), Dirty Pictures Pt.2 (2018), Private Lives (2020), and Art Dealers (2023).
Loved reading through all the replies! Two classic runs I didn't see mentioned...
NRBQ: All Hopped Up (1977), At Yankee Stadium (78), Kick Me Hard (79), and Tiddlywinks (80).
Joe Jackson: Look Sharp! (1979), I'm the Man (79), Beat Crazy (80), Jumpin' Jive (81), and [bonus!] Night and Day (82).
A veteran music biz executive mansplains Chappell Roanβs βnaΓ―veβ Grammy speech in The Hollywood Reporter. The next day I use the same space to lead singersplain why he should take a seat.
When you learn of a wonderful former colleague's great take (and account) via one of your favorite critics' repost, you're glad you created a blue sky.
All of which to say, even with the strides made since my first diagnosis. Mental health still don't get no respect.
Glancing at the poets utilized on the record, my eye caught Thomas Hood (which my brain scrambled into Dylan Thomas - despite knowing DT was Welsh) because of the link between "Do Not Go Gentle..." and death... Inadvertently linking Marianne Faithful and Rodney Dangerfield in my mind, forever.
Today, I was listening to Broken English in honor of Marianne Faithful's passing and refamiliarizing myself with her other releases (a long held practice of mine following the death of a seminal musician). 2021's She Walks in Beauty put Faithful and Warren Ellis' music to British romantic poetry.
Yesterday: My new primary care doctor told me how folks with ADD can and should forego prescription stimulants as they age... Having years to perfect coping mechanisms or, upon finding their professional niche, simply "outgrown" their symptoms to the point it no longer impacts daily life.
