Wrote an elegy-in-prose for Robert Campbell in ArchPaper.
“If anything, we need more Robert Campbells—critics who can translate the built environment into public language, who can hold designers, planners, and institutions accountable, and who remind us that cities are made of values.”
self-portrait, with concrete.
Still amazed a week and a bit later that this place was built. So jealous of you @barbicangreyscape.bsky.social, but at least I have @boston.gov's hall. Let's call it a draw. (kidding, you win.)
for a 'project' maybe???
State Street brutal.
The Brutalist has been a boon for discussions about what is and isn't. Great to hear @marklamster on with the @theromanmars on the not-brutalism of the film.

Heroic, the project, continues.
This is going to be relevant methinks. Cover at the moment, but full book coming in 2025. Written by Andrew Santa Lucia, Daniel Jonas Roche. Lovingly illustrated by Lane Rick.

thanks fella.
I misread and thought he saw Hereditary.
Almost 15 years ago the pull-sheet edition of HEROIC was mounted (w @microkubo.bsky.social and Mark Pasnik). Since then countless lectures, talks, a few battles, tv and radio, a book with @criticalterrain.bsky.social securing a Getty grant, and finally, this.
There’s a new Brute in town.

HELLO.
Many identities—book designer, author, wayfinding, and now type (a custom face for new project, and yes, the S needs work).
I've written books about concrete and steel, urban renewal, and design. Working on all fronts. HEROIC is my brutalist alter-ego, SIGNALS is the design side.
That must mean you are 35… we all are right?
