Have asked Carneyβs office about this!

NEW: PM Carney has released a video calling Canada's ties to the U.S. "weaknesses" that must be corrected. Plus, he's promising regular updates on Canada's push to diversify its trading relationships. #canpoli #cdnpoli

NEW: This week, Avi Lewis made the rounds on Parliament Hill for the first time since becoming NDP leader. CBC's The House gave him a tour of West Block as he detailed what his political "experiment" looks like. Read more below! #cdnpoli #canpoli #ndp

The CBC projects that the Liberals have won the University-Rosedale by-election, and therefore Mark Carney has a majority.
Two by-elections from today are yet to be called.
Adding to this β thereβs three by-elections on Monday. Two are historically safe Liberal seats and one is a toss-up BQ/Liberal race.
172 is a razor-thin majority that protects the government on confidence votes. But 173 grants more control over committees and the legislative agenda.
π¨Another floor-crosser! This time SarniaβLambtonβBkejwanong Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu. That brings the Liberals up to 171, as my colleague Catharine Tunney reports. #cdnpoli #canpoli

NEW: An upcoming book authored by a prominent royal commentator says U.S. President Donald Trump was primarily interested in annexing Canadian territory just above the U.S.-Canada border β and his respect for King Charles may have quashed that goal. #canpoli #cndpoli

An interesting assessment from activist Yves Engler, who was barred from running for NDP leader back in December.
On social media, Engler said he would have gotten third place if he was allowed to participate (but it's not clear how he's basing that). He also congratulated Lewis. #cdnpoli #canpoli
Wab Kinew scrummed with reporters about half an hour ago. He's much more positive than Nenshi and Beck, saying relations will be "very good" and the two groups will get to work right away.
Kinew added he's not concerned that Lewis said he won't support new fossil fuel projects. #cdnpoli #canpoli
And another one from Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck, who's calling Lewis' positions on natural resource development "ideological and unrealistic."
She also says when Lewis reverses his positions, she will meet with him. A chilly reception to Lewis from the provinces so far. #cdnpoli #canpoli
Some cracks are already forming in the NDP under Avi Lewis. In a sharp statement just now, Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi says the federal party's direction is "not in the interests of Alberta."
In sum, Nenshi supports more oil and gas development. Lewis does not. #cdnpoli #canpoli
BREAKING: Activist and filmmaker Avi Lewis has been elected NDP leader. CBC's live page is following this today! #cdnpoli #canpoli

NEW: The federal Conservative Party's campaign manager is shrugging off polls showing the Liberals hold a double-digit lead over the Tories β while Pierre Poilievre says he's broadening his image but won't change who he is. #cdnpoli #canpoli

Spent the last hour and a bit listening to Poilievre's interview with Joe Rogan.
Overall, it's tracking to be a pretty standard chat. Poilievre says he's texted Carney while he's in the US and believes the Conservatives will "overwhelmingly" win the next election.

Pierre Poilievre has confirmed via X that he did an interview with leading podcaster Joe Rogan during his trip to the United States (in this case β Austin, Texas).
No mention of when the episode will air, but safe to assume itβs this week given Roganβs upload schedule. #cdnpoli #canpoli

It's possible The House can see into the future. Now the French foreign minister is mulling the idea of Canada seeking membership in the European Union.

NEW: Carney says Ottawa planning to revamp funding for Canadian athletes and will tackle the issue "very deliberately" over the next six months β news that comes before a commission on the future of Canadian sport releases its final report. #cdnpoli #canpoli

π¨BREAKING: NDP MP Lori Idlout is crossing the floor to the Liberals, according to a statement from the Interim NDP Leader Don Davies.
The number of floor-crossers thus far is truly mind-blowing, and from all sides. #cdnpoli #canpoli
Speaker can break ties! Itβs been rare but within their powers.
βThe Speaker does not participate in debate and votes only in cases of an equality of voices; in such an eventuality, the Speaker is responsible for breaking the tie by casting a voteβ

π¨BREAKING: Carney calls byelections in two Toronto ridings and Terrebonne. Voters will head to the polls on April 13.
Liberals will need to win all three races to get a thin majority government. #cdnpoli #canpoli
