pink paw above "ASSIMILATION = DEATH"

You know, it used to be a wonderful thing to be avant-garde, to be different from the world. [...] But you are forgetting your grass roots, you are forgetting your own individual identity. I mean, you can never be like them.
— Sylvia Rivera, to the Meeting of Latino Gay Men of New York (June 2001)

the furry is not a legitimate subject of this social order, and to the extent that we are dignified it is almost always to affirm our ‘fundamentally alien status.’

we are the punchline against which no harm can be done, the perpetual scandal against which the children must be shielded, the unwelcome intrusion against that which is legitimate and legitimized. we are denied the dignity of having an equal place, speaking with an equal voice, even being treated as an equal thing against which one can act with normative consequences. when an act of legislation assails us all anyone can talk about is trans liberation or litterboxes; when an act of terrorism is committed against us there is neither a case nor even a suspect. always, in the subtext, and sometimes the text itself, there is that thing which sets us apart from all else, that cutting question only we could be asked—“you’re not from around here, are you?”

because we are not from around here, because we can never be like them—that is why the question cuts. for the furry, for us, there cannot be respectability or normalcy, there cannot be legitimacy from this social order, except on the basis of extermination. were we to appease the discursive imaginary family—were we to reconcile ourselves with the white, heterosexual nuclear household against which respectability and normalcy is defined—it would oblige us to give up all that which makes us furry in the first place. it would not be that we merely cease our “new ways of loving, lusting for, and caring for one another, in favor of a 1950s model of white-picket-fence, ‘we're-just-like-you’ normalcy,”—it would be that our identity, our being, is wholly erased and placed back into the closet.

for the furry, assimilation can only serve as a form of insidious structural racism; an extension of class warfare; a kind of cultural eugenics. for what assimilation inevitably confers is not broad status but merely a set of “privileges for the well-to-do.” the poorest, the most vulnerable, the most ‘undesirable,’ the most ‘degenerate,’—the ones who cannot be reconciled with the body politic?—are never served by the project of assimilation, the demand that one become another, because the terms of ‘another’ are set and give them no place.

and if there is no place for us in assimilation, then our place must be in radicalization. against the call to “enclose [ourselves] in [the] fortified towers” of normalcy and legitimacy, let us instead dream—let us resolve—to topple them entirely, that a better world may take their place.

the furry subject and the assimilationist impulse (draft); or, ASSIMILATION=DEATH.

various additional thoughts i have been mulling on what it means, or should mean, to be a furry, and why we can never let the subculture succumb to the siren call of assimilation

"Fortnite has a new rat!"
That's great, they also just fired 1000 people, had a Harry Potter crossover, and had a horrible Darth Vader thing.

I'll pay a furry artist to draw a much hotter rat who is actually gay and continue to show support to the community I am a part of instead of a corporation.

This is great all around in every way.
Also, all I could hear after that ending was the mortal combat announcer going "FAT-ALITY"

the bill is 'H.R.8250'

while usually i'd take a "wait and see" approach to a bill that has only been introduced, the us govt is moving FAST wrt age verification, so please, contact your representatives (particularly the house) and advocate against AV on device laws

“Care to give me a push?”

A bit of aptophilia, for those of us who like uncommon bodies that are ill-adapted to their environment.

Oh they feel threatened....

Good, so do most of the population in this country. All because the ghouls in charge are too fucking scared of the new and different
They better be afraid, they deserve a lot worse than to rot in hell, torture that violates the Geneva convention is too good for them.

Audio: Violent threats increasingly target members of Congress The Globe asked the offices of New England lawmakers for examples of the threats they’ve received. The response was chilling.

With threats to members of Congress rising fast, we asked a couple dozen members to share their voicemails. The results were chilling. You can read more about it and listen to some of the voicemails in our interactive project.

the fact that legislators are trying to say that computers are devices that require id verification and tracking to use should put fear into EVERYONE. FIGHT AGAINST THIS.

They are so, SO desperate for people to resub. PLEASE don't resub your Nitro everyone. Props if you aren't already subbed, props if you were subbed and you unsub right now. NOTHING changes unless a company FEARS for their bottom line. Feel free to use Discord still, but don't give them a penny. 💖

If I can work up the motivation to do so, I want to get it all posted, both to FA and possibly sofurry and here.

My point in all this is, I have come to doubt that anyone will miss me when I am gone, and that I haven't ever really been welcome or wanted by most of the fandom. I'm not sure if I did something years ago when I joined or if I upset someone who talked about me, or if I'm just generally disliked.

1 week ago 0 0 0 0

To be entirely honest, I haven't been happy in the fandom for years and have been heavily considering leaving for as long....because what reason do I have to stay? It doesn't really seem like anyone would care that I am gone, most people forget about me or mistake me for someone else as is.

The sadly ironic thing is that when I am sharing ANYONE else's stuff is when my page gets noticed..... When all it is being used for is a soapbox for whatever things are going on. I can't even use things like vr chat cause I get ignored there for lack of headset or custom avatar CONSTANTLY.

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

It's also why I haven't posted basically any of the art I have gotten in the last like.....5-7 years, because who would actually want to see it? I have made posts in the past asking stuff and they frequently go ignored, much the same happens when I try sending messages directly.

1 week ago 0 0 2 0

I never honestly know what to post here because I don't think many people if anyone actually looks at my profile. I've never been someone that gets given the time of day that often, to the point of having people walk away during conversation because they just.....don't notice I'm talking or there.

AI is a tool of the regime.

They will monitor you with it.

Remove you with it.

AI is a tool of the regime.

They will replace you with it.

Remove you with it.

AI is the tool of the regime.

They will kill this planet with it.

We will suffer because of it.

AI will kill us all.
