If the Wachowskis' credits can be updated on the remasters for Bound and Speed Racer, there's no excuse for a rerelease of The Matrix to not do the same.

For some reason, transgender medicine and surgeries are the ONLY medical interventions for which the public demands a perfect 0% regret rate.

Look up the regret rate for heart surgery some time.

It's A LOT higher than that for any gender affirming treatment.

Probably has been said by many others already, but nothing ever prepares you for tragedies of this sort, even when you know they're inevitable. I'm trying my best to remain optimistic, but the fact all this bad news started barreling in at the rate it did, more than kills the remaining hope.

Some more tragic news just hit our family: we just found out that my uncle has Stage 4 colon cancer and is nearing the end of his life. Trying to let all this bad news sink in is one thing, but that it's all happening at once is another. We're doing our best, but we don't know where it'll get us.

The Crying Game Neil Jordan’s emotionally stunning international sensation overcame the barriers between independent and mainstream cinema to become one of the defining films of the 1990s. Set against the turbulence ...

I have some huge news! I am making my debut on a Criterion disc for their stunning 4k restoration of Neil Jordan's THE CRYING GAME. I wrote an essay for the booklet and I'm very excited for everyone to check it out.

Have to share this whole message from Darien because she is that desperate. She should be receiving much more help and money than she is getting. She can’t take it anymore. Please spread this around.

So, we just found out she's got a form of dementia that has been reducing her functionality for a very long while already. So even if she were to fully recover from what's sent her to the ER, it's unlikely she'll make it to the end of the year. All of this is so sudden, I don't know how to react.

A speech like this fills me with the despair. The volumes of comments and quotes responding with complete disdain for AI and a refusal to buy the garbage Carney is selling fills me with a greater hope.

I don't normally post family updates on social media, but my grandmother has been taken to the hospital via ambulance tonight. Hoping for the best right now, but can't say I am as optimistic as I'd have been months ago. Well wishes are greatly appreciated around now.

In 1953 Iran had a functioning democracy. A free press. Seven political parties. Women in universities. Women granted voting rights in municipal councils in 1952. A secular prime minister named Mosaddegh who believed Iran's oil belonged to Iran. The US and Britain decided he had to go.

Female Filmmakers in Focus: Sophy Romvari on "Blue Heron" The debut filmmaker talks about how images and image-making impact our experience of time and memory, and more.

"It’s a very personal film that I think I’ve opened up to the world, and I made it with the hope that people could connect to it"

For this month's column at @ebertvoices.bsky.social I spoke with @sophyromvari.bsky.social about her achingly transcendent film BLUE HERON
