in addition to other helpful comments in the thread i'd recommend always using `--force-with-lease`. that way if there are newer commits on the remote branch the push will fail

people complain that making friends as an adult is hard — in my experience this is not true! but you do have to consistently show up. become a regular at a bar, or even at trivia night at a bar (even/especially if you don’t drink), go to a diner for lunch the same day every week, etc. become known!
