Prince passed away 10 years ago today.
RIP, your music lives on.
Look at this chart.
Tax cuts for the rich are a policy choice. Cutting the social safety net in exchange for them is a policy choice.
States like New York have an opportunity to help undo this trickle down nonsense by raising taxes on the rich (who will still be rich).
I hope Gov. Hochul does.
We need immigration reform now--our economy depends on it. "America's worker shortage is a crisis"

So incredibly beautiful
So essentially going to war with Catholics and the poor.
Translation: "I don't want to see the Pope get involved in domestic politics" except when it's my politics.
I see what you're saying. And the statement that came out from the UCCB from that standpoint is very interesting. I think he's pretty much already at that point where he's saying that on this matter of theology he knows better than the Pope.
He would have to do something more than simply publicly disagreeing with the Pope, though, right? He would have to reject the Pope's authority or something definitive like that? (This is not a defense of any statements he has made thus far.)
Especially after a few!
Also, recent convert schools the Pope on theology. Augustinian theology (just war theory) to an Augustinian Friar, no less. Who was a seminary PROFESSOR.
I didn't even know this was a thing.
Damn it, Jim! I'm a doctor not a miracle worker!
I signed the petition to nominate Pope Leo XIV for the Nobel Peace Prize. Add your name: standwithpopeleo.com/nobelprize
🔥🔥🔥A thousand writers, directors, and actors signed a letter opposing the Paramount-Warner merger. That's a HUGE deal, since there was massive fear in the industry.
It was organized by @markruffalo.bsky.social who I will now call the mayor of Hollywood. www.thewrap.com/media-platfo...
Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.
It doesn't have to be this way.
Members of Congress are gaining access to ICE facilities and surprise, surprise, the conditions are inhumane.
What do you call a system where CEOs make millions of dollars while laying off thousands of workers?
Proud of our archbishop, Cardinal McElroy, speaking up for what's right, for peace. youtu.be/NVDZYjwSkck?...
I doubt that Pope Leo XIV will lose any sleep over this, before he begins his pilgrimage to Africa tomorrow. But the rest of us should. Because it is unhinged, uncharitable and unchristian. Is there no bottom to this moral squalor?
"It's hurting him very badly...." I don't think the Pope cares about polls, but even if he did, he'd find he's polling very well!
Gorgeous
At that critical juncture, as disciples of Jesus Christ called to be peacemakers in the world, we must answer vocally and in unison: No. Not in our name. Not at this moment. Not with our country. Cardinal McElroy,

If you're a baseball fan, you have to give this a listen about a terrific new documentary. Hosted by my Paulist deacon affiliate brother Deacon Mike Hayes, and featuring former NYU President John Sexton, director John Scheinfeld, and Paulist Fr. Tom Gibbons.

The title of the film is somewhat incidental, but the theme of "Project Hail Mary" is quintessentially Christian and Easter-oriented: accepting personal suffering and offering one's own life for the sake of another.
May Victor Orbán simply be the first in a string of countries engaging in overdue housecleaning by kicking their authoritarian leaders to the curb.
End of clip shows the right-wing bent of CBS these days, but I'm glad they are doing the story.
The disciples were not chosen because they were fearless. They were not sent because they had perfect faith. They were sent because, despite their fear and doubt, they had encountered the risen Christ. (Photo: ML Asselin, Stained Glass, Blessed Sacrament Church, Stowe, Vermont)
An mRNA treatment for PANCREATIC CANCER was in trials, among many other uses. Choosing to end this research is choosing to sentence millions to an early, painful death
