Communities Not Cages: National Day of Action to Stop ICE Warehouse Detention · Disappeared in America Join us outside as part of a nationwide day of action to oppose the Trump administration's expansion of ICE warehouse detention and its attack on the due process rights of immigrants and all Americans. The Department of Homeland Security is moving to lock thousands of people in massive detention warehouses — disappearing them from their families, their lawyers, and their communities. We're taking to the streets to make clear that stands for dignity, justice, and the rule of law. We'll gather to: - Show visible, public opposition to ICE detention expansion and the criminalization of immigration - Stand in solidarity with detained immigrants and the communities fighting to protect them - Demand that our elected officials defend due process for everyone Bring a sign. Bring your neighbors. Bring your voice. This action is part of the Communities Not Cages National Day of Action organized by the Disappeared In America campaign and partners including Detention Watch Network, Indivisible, Public Citizen, The Workers Circle, MoveOn and many others. A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Manatee’s nonprofits deserve better than this from county government Commissioner Amanda Ballard’s proposed immigration rule would add red tape where there’s no evidence of abuse — and risk hurting the people these groups serve.

Faith in Action: How Churches Can Support Immigrants · Indivisible Manatee Featured speakers include: Marki Wogstad- Hansen, a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran in Minneapolis and ISAIAH, a multi-faith, multi-racial statewide, non-partisan organization and Maria Royabo, Executive Director of the Immigration Justice Coalition of Southwest Florida, an organization providing food and supports directly to immigrant families. The speakers will discuss recent activity in Minneapolis this winter and the infrastructure of love and support created through the churches which eventually evolved into a broader, statewide movement to support immigrants and their families. We will hear about concrete activities that can be done to help families right now. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and consider ways area church members can be responsive to immigrant families and build a strong network of support. We hope you will participate with us in the Food 4 Neighbors program. Look for the list of acceptable items on your signup confirmation email.

Reject the Deportation & Detention Agenda Tell your Members of Congress to publicly oppose any warehouses or detention centers being expanded in your community or anywhere in the country.

The regime is buying up warehouses to retrofit into concentration camps.

But Trump’s massive expansion of detention facilities is so unpopular that even some Republicans are speaking out against DHS’ plans. Urge your Members of Congress to do everything they can to stop ICE’s warehousing of people.

@indmanatee.bsky.social
Trump is spending billions on a foreign war of choice and paying for it by jacking up healthcare, housing, grocery, and gas prices for you and your family. Every Democrat should be hammering this line home from now until the vote.
