Thanks so much, Deb. I hope we can give him a few more good months (we would like him to have a summer) but we'll see.

Thank you so much! And I will do!
Thank you! I'm excited.

(*I will still be doing some of my own freelancing too! And I probably owe you an email!)
I'm especially looking to connect with freelancers (text and visuals) in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the NWT, so please do holler if that's you, send me recs if that's your talented bud, etc.
Some professional news... I'm delighted to be @cangeo.bsky.social's new (part-time*) Western Canada Editor! Coverage area: MB, SK, AB, BC, YT, NWT. I'll have more detailed pitch guidelines once I get settled in, but in the meantime, I'm at holland@canadiangeographic.ca if you'd like to get in touch.

Bluesky friends! Iβm hunting for a copy of Amtrakβs "The National" magazine (2017) featuring the Cleveland food scene.
My friend shot the cover photo and met her husband because of that issue!
Iβd love to gift it to her, since they no longer publish it. Can yaβll help me find this issue? ππ½
Ah, that makes sense! I showed up right at the end of 2009.
The closest thing I have to this is that the "how to be bear safe" Tombstone video features me brushing my teeth and spitting into the grey water barrel lol.
Why don't I remember this one?! I have friends who moved away literally a decade+ ago who are still the models in the "ride the bus" ads.
Probably some nice hikes/walks on some of the state and federal lands just east of the city! You could go across to Whidbey Island, too, maybe? Depends on the time gaps I guess.

Thank you! He's really extraordinarily good.
Feels maybe a bit glib to say "fuck cancer" about my dog, but hey, he's my family. Fuck cancer.
A brown-and-beige husky smiles with his tongue out, sitting on snow in bright sunlight. His shadow stretches tall behind him, and so does a human shadow (mine, while I took the photo).
It's Tacoma's gotcha day! Six years since I brought him home from the racing kennel where he was born and trained to pull and run. A bittersweet anniversary this year, as we adjust to the news from last week that he won't be with us much longer.

Saaaame, ha. The branding/platform stuff definitely feels like a trap, but at the same time, the community-seeking aspect is real.
Hoo boy, does this ever hit me where I live (she posts, postily).
