I think I read a study once that found a high inverse correlation between average education level in women and birth rate.

Hungary is a place that probably wouldn’t extradite a political criminal to the United States.
It seems to me my kids have tantrums because they can’t express and/or control their emotions. Some people try to discipline it out of them, but discipline is for things they can control.
American F1 fans haven’t had a good driver in 50 years. Just pick a driver to support based on their character rather than nationality. Wasn’t VER born in Belgium and spent most of his life living in Monaco anyway?
There’s a different calculus here. Purchase price isn’t the way to think about it, but operating cash flow. If the total cost of the added specialized software/hardware is cheaper than a human driver, then, Bob’s your uncle. It’s a question of when, not if all taxis are driverless.
I’m going to start having AI make everything you write sound like Yoda
I root for the groundhogs…but only twice a year.
Do you? Because I can think of MANY things I’d rather be doing.
Agree completely…also, no idea what he said
What if the cannon was just a really long tube and we just ran the oil through it like a pipe?
GRRM is famous for the Westeros stories, but it’s not all he’s written. If you wanted something different, I’d recommend Fevre Dream. I enjoyed that a lot.
Probably ahead of his teammate in the world championship, too. Can’t remember a time that’s happened since 2018
All of it was abysmal for me. F1tv on Roku was doing this weird only showing zoomed in top-left 1/4 of the feed. I switched to Apple TV on Xbox. That was buffering every 10 seconds or so. There is no F1TV for Xbox. Apple on Roku mostly worked, but I was about to just watch on my iPad. Abysmal
I think a good target would be full power/no clipping for 1 lap of qualifying. The energy budget is such that most teams can start a quali lap full battery and go all out for the whole lap by ending it with near zero battery. Maybe at some tracks under the current rules?
What’s the ability/timeline for increasing the ICE output? Presumably some combination of increased revs/fuel/flow would input more power to the system and it seems like that is the deficiency: not enough energy to spend it on lower leverage parts of the track.
We’re they about 4 seconds behind everyone else?
Aside from Merc & RB, outside chance for Alpine, Haas, or Williams
I’d quibble about McLaren and Williams being each a bit higher, but yeah, that seems about right. Reliability is a huge question though.
The other engine suppliers wanted ONLY the hot test because then, they could match Merc’s hot compression by starting off with more cold compression than is allowed by the regs & cold test.
It’s not that simple on the engine test issue. The test change probably won’t change anything because measured compression pressure on a hot engine is lower. So, when they measure hot & cold they’ll find less decrease in the Merc, but that’s legal.
I read that as he’s only going to keep racing if his car is a championship contender.
Is a good argument to rotate into healthcare sector
I was wondering where Brundle was when we needed a critique of a racing line; any Brundle will do.
I wish the world was continuing into where we live under int’l law and countries respect each other’s sovereignty, but that was largely backstopped by the strongest power (US) supporting it. I fear we’re drifting back to “the strong take what they can and the weak suffer what they must.”
I don’t just mean military, but economic and energy. The need to stop relying on Russian pipelines. On the military side, there’s a need for an EU-centric movement away from US-centric NATO. Russia is very depleted from their failure in Ukraine.
Everything about that is the wrong analogy. The US is so much stronger than the rest of the world and the EU needs US help to counter Russia. The EU should be focused on self reliance and developing global non-US partnerships.
Oil is the new coal
Meanwhile, Waymo has an accident every 1.25 million miles; nearly all of which are human drivers running into Waymos.
I was just looking at this one and remembered I hadn’t seen what Guy thought about jobs. Came over here to find it.
