I've been spending a lot less time on social media, and it's been so good for my mental health and creativity. So I'm going to give myself the rest of the month off social media. Maybe see you here in March, maybe not!

You know what? Blogging thrived well before algorithms existed. And I can't help but feel like we need to stop giving algorithms so much power.

That's a good idea. Long-term I would still like to clean up my regular feed so I'm able to connect with new people who share my interests. It's just overrun with political content, most of which isn't realistic or actionable.

Yeah, I probably need to clean up who I'm following. I didn't realize I hadn't muted any terms, so hopefully doing that helps as well!

How are you curating your social media feed these days? I need more balance and to be able to engage with politics on my terms, when I'm in a good headspace to inform myself and take action. Right now my feed is an overwhelming fear machine.

Can y’all please take all this energy against trans people in bathrooms and redirect it to getting rid of gaps in bathroom stalls instead?

Friends, it's ok to have boundaries and engage in politics on your terms only. We are not built to take in bad news all day every day. You can't take effective action until you take care of yourself.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but your business gets better when you give yourself time to pursue interests outside it.

Reviewing my 2024 business expenses — who bought all these domain names???

Why does @wordpress.com install the Gutenberg plugin and say that it "provides features offered in your plan subscription"? Per the plugin page, it's for early adopters who want to test features in active development. I'm seeing more customers lately with issues tied to the Gutenberg plugin.

So on my end, I can just open theme.json and swap out the font file that’s registered. But as far as I can tell there’s no easy way for my theme customers to do the same with Manage Fonts.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

I registered all my theme fonts in theme.json with names like “primary,” did as much styling through theme.json as possible, and anything in style.css uses the proper variables.

Yeah, I know you can add fonts through Manage Fonts, but it just adds the font for selection and then you have to manually go through each element. What I want to do in that panel is, say, swap Open Sans for Lato and it applies sitewide.

If only I could get my husband to ask me this. Right now his routine is me telling him his skin is flaky and attacking him with exfoliating toner and moisturizer.

Thank you!

If I had to make a list of required viewing for lifestyle bloggers, the new Martha doc on Netflix would be at the top.

Want long-term success in blogging? Start with your stories — then figure out why people should care. THAT is how you build a brand that adapts to trends and builds community.

Love that you can easily add fonts now, but I wish it worked like the color scheme where you can just change the color in the editor and it applies sitewide.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

Yeah, I used primary/secondary/etc naming to register my fonts in theme.json, so it’s super easy for me… but my customers don’t know how to do that 🫠

Now it's my turn I guess 😂

Hey #wordpress people, am I missing something or is there not a way to simply replace a font in a block theme, and automatically have all instances of the original font in the theme replaced with the new font?

I tried to mention you on a post I found but it says invalid handle. Saw something earlier today that you may need to refresh!

Thank you for putting this together! Would love to be added if possible.

Yeah I didn’t even make it through the sign up process. This does feel more like the old Twitter, hope it stays that way.
