This regime’s federal workforce changes cost the economy ~$165.6B.
The real losses--expertise, programs, future lives saved--are immeasurable.
NB: no one is more stubborn or recalcitrant than public servants who believe in their mission.

In addition to putting more fines and prison sentences in the table, I love the idea of banning them from holding corporate director- or c-suite-level roles for some amount of time. Do dodgy sh*t? Great, you’re back to VP and getting more supervision.
This is not real.
In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.
ICE lawyer: Some of the ICE agents who lean MAGA cannot wait for this administration to be done. I know the guys are tired. For the first time this month, I am hearing guys questioning what they're being asked to do. They've had a year now of people spitting on their feet and constantly calling them pigs and fascists, even when they're just standing there at the airport. It's having a real impact on people.

My latest for @sciam.bsky.social is all about the real biology, ecology, and climate science that is used to create the world of Pokémon, and how scientists use it to teach science in the real world.
This is just about the most fun I’ve ever had interviewing anyone, and I hope you enjoy! 🧪🌎
there was that story about W trying to sell the French on the Iraq war with their shared Christian heritage with worries of Gog and Magog active in the Middle East & the PM called his staff going "find me a Huguenot to explain what the Protestant fuck he's on about"
How did Magyar win? A long running grassroots campaign in rural and small town Hungary; a refusal to be distracted by government propaganda; a focus on economic issues and corruption; a central promise to bring back democracy and the rule of law
You can’t preemptively pardon anything. We can simply ignore whatever blathering noises he makes.
In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.
France starts moving government systems from Windows to Linux
France is ditching US software for homegrown alternatives of Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Telegram

My mom lost her childhood best friend (my auntie) and my best friend lost her dad.
RFKJR is a disgrace to humanity.
Oh interesting— I would have thought the opposite. Steamers took 1+ weeks to cross the Atlantic, so that seems gradual for 5-6 timezones. (Not a ton of longitudinal change between, say, NYC and common ports in the UK / Europe).
At the Last Supper Jesus declares that One of you will betray me, four will get book deals.

Antarctica's 12-month running average temperature is the highest on record. That seems bad. 😟

The largest and sharpest image ever taken of the Andromeda galaxy — otherwise known as M31. It is the biggest Hubble image ever released and shows over 100 million stars, thousands of star clusters in a section of the galaxy’s disc stretching across over 40 000 light-years.

Japan just unveiled a drone made entirely of cardboard. It flies at 120 km per hour, can be assembled in 5 minutes, and is designed to be used in massive swarms. The craziest part is it can be mass produced at any regular cardboard factory. The future is cheap.

Precisely. Graham needs to keep King David’s name out if his f*cking mouth without the context of why the story is preserved. Which is to teach that leaders are not infallible and they too must suffer consequences for their bad leadership and arrogance.
We just got back from a theatre screening of Blazing Saddles and IMHO is a top 3
In Belgium, employees receive compensation for every kilometre they ride, with some cyclists earning up to €810 per year.
And why not? Biking saves public money for everyone.
“All employees in Belgium who cycle to work are entitled to a bicycle allowance of €0.28 per kilometre of their commute.”
Can you add a “this, but shorter” button? Ain’t no office staff reading 450 words of bloviating.
