I crunched the numbers, and Glasgow was almost 1% oceanographers this week. Happy to have given my first ever poster at #OSM2026! 🌊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This story makes me really glad that #OSM2026 is out of the US this year. Much less risky for all involved

Nope! New Jersey Transit delays are a special kind of hell - I once spent 2.5 hours stuck between stations because the train in front of mine broke down, and of course there’s no incentive to pay more to maintain the trains

That’s a fun one! It was such a culture shock moving to the UK at 18 and realising that there are more English accents than posh and cockney

Which accent is that? Don’t say Scouse

Hopefully this galvanises some of the people who thought there were “political” and “apolitical” disciplines

Dachshund puppy with very sad eyes

Happy new year! My first healthy decision of the year was to not look at the news and instead look at the adorable puppy my friend dog sat last night

Save NCAR from being dismantled today! The Trump Administration has vowed to dissolve the center that provides critical extreme weather and climate data for our nation.

The Trump Administration's plan to dismantle the @ncar-ucar.bsky.social is senseless & dangerous.

It would weaken weather forecasting, climate research, & the science that keeps people safe.

We urge that this plan be abandoned.

Call Congress to #SaveNCAR today. buff.ly/7ka1BQA

I had to try this for myself and wow, thank you ChatGPT. Maybe we all get to wake up after our gas leak season soon?

France’s National Assembly votes in favour of legalising assisted dying. I have a solution: wolves.

True. I suppose they know that climate scientists won’t change their tune based on this cherry-picked and misleading analysis, but the letters PhD after the authors’ names will impress a lot of non-scientists.

Armstrong Hall at Columbia University is not anymore housing the Goddard Institute for Space Studies. 160 or so of us gathered outside for the last picture. But we are still standing as a group, strong and determined, doing the same work and more great things into the future. Keep your eyes on us!

Trump Administration Shutters New York City–Based NASA Institute Since 1966 NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies has been at the forefront of Earth and planetary science from its location in upper Manhattan. Now a Trump administration directive is ejecting it...

🧪 It's been a privilege to work at the historic NASA GISS for even the first few months of my PhD. I (and many colleagues) gave quotes in this article about getting evicted; hopefully it changes at least one heart/mind.
