I think digital sovereignty shouldn't feel like a fringe concern anymore. We depend entirely, as a continent, on infrastructure we don't control.
We're working on something in this space 👀. Would you like a very early peek?

I did not believe it, but #CloudNativePG is by far the easiest way I've ever deployed a self-healing, highly available Postgres Cluster.
Truly impressive piece of tech.
Working on this!
Here’s my opinion on the new typescript compiler:
You should write programs in the language you want to.
Ansible, Consul, Vault, AWX, Netmaker, WireGuard, OIDC, Grafana, Tang, Clevis, ZFS, Patroni, Promtail, Loki, Certbot, Packer, Restic, Prometheus, node_exporter.
Life is hard out of the cloud.
But if it’s your kind of hard, you should definitely come help us build!
Oh absolutely, it’s our preferred choice too!
But we’re still (very) early stage, and we need a way to support users across Europe without letting i18n become a bottleneck (as it often is).
Human translations are more accurate (and less awkward), we just need more humans 😊
We will definitely be testing #Mistral (we’re hopeful). Still rooting for EU-made to pull ahead.
Still looking for a solid, open, EU-made alternative.
We're exploring this (and many other problems) out in the open. If you're into coding, infra, or anything else, we’d love to hear from you.
Closed models fared better.
- GPT-4o-mini nailed almost everything. Sometimes odd tone or formality, but meaning held.
- GPT-4o? Only needs light edits for perfectionism.
We are using 4o-mini. 33x cheaper than 4o and good enough for now.
We started with open models.
- gemma2 struggled with nuance. "Back" became "Backwards" in many languages. A tough bug to catch unless you’re fluent.
- llama3.1 is okay in Spanish, passable in DE/FR/IT—but beyond that, same story: ambiguity, tone drift, wrong forms.
Great effort. Not ready yet.
noo aims to support 29 languages: serving Europe means speaking Europe.
I18n is hard: messy JSONs, ever changing UX. One form = 145 new keys.
It's probably why most EU businesses stay within national borders.
AI should help—but open models still fall short.
Know of one that nails this? (1/4)
Not sure how many #authentication nerds are on Bluesky, but I'm so hyped to share that noo id now implements all the core parts of the #OpenIDConnect specification, and then some!
Next stop: passkeys!
Surveillance. Censorship. Vulnerability.
Every day, #Europe hands over its digital future to foreign corporations. That needs to change.
noo is our answer.

Together, we build. 🇪🇺 💪
Every morning, we check our emails with #Google.
We sign in to work on a #Microsoft account.
We store our files on #Dropbox.
We chat on #WhatsApp.
We shop on #Amazon.
At every step, we surrender control, privacy, and autonomy to corporations beyond our borders.
🚨🚨 Europe needs its own tech ecosystem.
Not just another startup - a real alternative.
🛠️ We're building noo.eu.
✅ #EU based, worker-led, #privacy first digital services.
✅ No VCs. No surveillance capitalism.
We need #tech builders, testers, and believers. Now’s the time to get involved.

🔒 Still deep in OIDC land...
Getting all the parts of the spec to work together (securely!) is NOT for the faint of heart.
However, the official OpenID Connect Conformance Suite is looking greener and greener ✅✅✅
Was Rome built in a day?
Your thread really resonates. Finding good EU alternatives is tough.
We’re working on something in this space that will be worker-led, privacy-focused (starting with identity and mail). Still early days, hoping more EU projects gain traction.
🚀 Our signup workflow is complete!
I can’t think of many things more tedious than writing and debugging E2E tests, but I could stare at #Playwright going 🌀
Here’s 11s of pure automation magic, speedrunning through Noo Identity’s signup.
⚠️ WARNING: video with flashing content / rapid transitions.
A screenshot of the first step of the signup process in noo.
First steps on noo Identity:
- 🎨 our first page looks pretty good!
- ⚙️ #OpenIDConnect configuration endpoint seems solid!
#NextJS & #Playwright are so smooth! However, #ReactJS 19 forms reset on submit (by design, apparently), which is... puzzling.
Tiny wins, big dreams.
