"The silent protector" meme, where the daggers are captioned "oversharing" and "politics", the child is "my profile", and the soldier is the "save draft" feature, that helps me write that shit out but not post it for everyone to see

I've played this game for less than 2 hours before uninstalling it, but the Restored Land update does sound right up my alley...

It's one of those things, along with 80s/90s anime styles, that seems incredibly popular and always gets people excited, but there's still not that many finished projects featuring either.

Thank you!! One of the nice side-effects to this post blowing up was discovering more modern games in this style hehe

Thank you!! Yeah, agreed, and I'm happy to see people recommending some cool-looking stuff in this thread 👀

Hope I got the palette limitations right!

Moisturized, in my lane, flourishing, studying new things, reading books, watching anime again

...with only a minor downside of not earning any money and thus having an ominous red countdown hanging over my head. Still, for now it feels good, I'll have time to get proper stressed later.

KYLE: For 13 years I was imprisoned, subjected to cruel experiments interrupted only by my 4-hour daily workout... on a meager diet of 3200 calories per day...

OLIVIA: You're too weak and emaciated to take down the Evil Old Man. You need to recover by killing chemically enhanced zombie supermutants

idk I’ve seen a bajillion kids movies where the kids parents die & let me tell you, having a convo with my kid about how anyone can die at any time & it doesn’t matter if they’re someone’s mom or dad is way harder than having a convo about how sometimes someone has two dads or whatever. And yet

There are parts of this game where it's writing genuinely touches me, and then every once in a while it goes full centrist and you have to roll your eyes.

Also Louis Metaphor is who people that can't read think Edelgard Fire Emblem is

Yeah. It hurt me to not include Gothic 2, another classic staple.

Well I'm just glad Studio Zero got an opportunity to do their thing

Been playing Metaphor:ReFantazio lately and enjoying it so much I'm not even playing RE9 until I finish.

Far as I'm concerned, it's an improvement over P5 in most aspects, the only big exception being the visuals. I'm glad we got this instead of P6, thank you Atlus.

Extended exposure to American and other English-speaking messaging environments gave me a habit of freely using exclamation points and I fear that makes me sound absolutely deranged to the Eastern Europeans

It's funny a bit sad that no Gothic-derivative has outdone the originals. Archolos is good precisely because it's Gothic 2 but more & with QoL. Pyranha Bytes' newer games all tried to "improve" the combat and were worse for it.
But well, Archolos also has much more varied quests and NPCs than ELEX.

Playing CoM: Archolos is my comfy zone. There's just something about Gothic-likes that makes me relax. Never do I want to listen to a podcast while backtracking through the forests, I'm just vibing and sitting with my thoughts in a way I can't in any "comfy" game. Dunno why, maybe just nostalgia.

Yes, that's the goal! I want to keep to the colour limitations and all that (I think some colours used here are wrong, but I'll fix that)
