The future of electricity is wind and solar, new report says. Canada is lagging is behind | CBC News Renewable energy met all new demand for electricity in 2025, according to a new review of global power generation, preventing any increase in the burning of fossil fuels to produce electricity and hig...

Today is Earth Day, but each year it can feel a little more like Groundhog Day.

While we replay the same pipeline debates in Canada, the rest of the world is racing ahead on renewable energy — which is growing so fast that it met all new electricity demand in 2025.

I have made a beginner's mistake: I did not separate the oil and garlic when freezing and now I can't dig out the garlic 😭
Going to see if I can thaw the jar in the fridge just long enough to remove the garlic.

One thing you will never think after reading a great book or listening to a great album or seeing a great piece of art is, “I’m really glad this person remained cautious while they were making this and guarded against being perceived as weird.”

Our native prairie crocus flowers blooming on #EarthDay give bees a warm place to rest and plenty of pollen in their solar-collecting bowl-shaped blossoms.

A page that reads:

Beneath the pale moon’s glow, fractured memories of the earth awaken.
They stir in deep forests and black lochs.
In ruined forts atop frigid peaks.
In labyrinthine cities that hiss and scream in the language of industry.
Monsters.
Manifestations of Nature. Her glory, and Her wrath.
Echoes of a time when the world knew balance.
When spirits, beasts, and humankind lived side by side.
Not always in peace, but in understanding.
Then came that great forgetfulness called Enlightenment.
And with it, the unravelling of the Old Ways.
The rise of the machine, of fire and steel.
And the birth of the White Church.
They poisoned minds with fear and the promise of their Miracle.
They shattered balance and awoke things that should have been left to dream.
And in their hate, and their fear, they burned us.
Thus, are we called.
We are Hexen. War witches.
This is the calling for which we were exiled, while the world rotted away.
This is the midnight summons of Her final war.
Under a pale moon, our exile ends.
Under a pale moon, we choose to fight.

The Pale Tides playtest is almost ready to release to my Kickstarter backers 👀

72 pages of THIS. The rules to my game system. A full scenario to explore. And a lot of spooky shit.

It feels surreal (and mildly terrifying) to be on the precipice of unleashing my strange child upon the world.

The farmer's market had berry baskets full of garlic, so yesterday I confited most of it and then froze it. (Didn't want to worry about getting it hot enough to kill any botulinum; the freezer is a good alternative.) I'm looking forward to smelling absolutely delicious for the next few weeks.

We are looking at a painting of St Liphardus - a 6th-century lawyer, hermit and abbot in Meung-sur-Loire near Orléans, France. He is wearing bishops clothing including a surplus and mitre and is holding a crook. On a lead is a small knee high green and blue dragon.

Anyone know of any UK-based pixel art animators looking for freelance work this year? Asking on behalf of a friend's project!

This started from a question I ask myself, in turn inspired by a question I wish I could ask some colleagues caught in cycles of beautifully-productive energy & crashing burnout/illness.

Which is really perhaps: who are we when we aren’t trying to justify our existence through what we do & make?

Question for anyone who makes things (professionally or personally or somewhere in between):

What would you do if you had a whole year, fully funded, with the one requirement that you NOT make anything for public consumption during that year?
