Gold star for me: got three characters named. Woohoo! π
link doesn't work :(
Husband's old co-worker trained a jr in AI and once it was up and working, company fired him and kept the cheap programmer. Y'all just don't get it. AI is being pushed so the tech co's can fire you. Period. We will be in a recession by the end of summer. Possibly a war by the end of the year.
I just had to deal with passive aggressive BS from my in-laws and their family for about 15 years. Kinda bizarre how women will jump through hoops in order to praise their favorite's decision to use her married name. IDGAF what u do but keeping maiden name is not a burden. The exact opposite IMO
Reading posts by women who say keeping their maiden name meant people thought they were divorced or kids weren't hers. That kids were "shamed." HUH? I kept my maiden name for 27 years and not once did anyone ask if I was divorced or who my kids were. Nor were my kids shamed. Dumb as rocks.
Pretty sure that is an AI image
Last night I was wondering why I feel overwhelmed by this latest book project. It's written! I should be happy! But deep down I knew some things were wrong and my gut on this has always been proved right. So a lot of things need rearranging at this point. #booksky #writingcommunity
As a reader, if the writing is good & the character captures my attention, I'm willing to wait & let the story unfold. This is not todays reader. Watch an old Columbo ep & see lots of credits as the killer moves about prepping for the murder. Wouldn't fly now #writerscommunity #booksky
I can fall into a trap of writing in an older style. What do I mean by that? Long chapters that while interesting & well written don't have the punch that newer books need in order 2 capture the reader's attention. Whether you like it or not, we have a new breed of readers #writerscommunity #booksky
Had a follow-up video call with my dev editor. I felt some things weren't working on the book and wanted her feedback. JMO but she's strongest when talking one-to-one vs. written notes. Something bothering me about the book now has a solution (which I need to write) π #writingcommunity #booksky
Unfortunately there is no way that I know (currently) to protect your written work from being AI scraped and replicated. This is going to be a huge problem for Indie authors. Laughable are the Indie authors running to embrace AI for they will fall on its sword.
Another option to protect your artwork from AI scraping is Glaze

Now that Pinterest is embracing AI and going to let your data on their platform be scraped to teach machines to take over your job - I need to get serious about protecting my images on my website. Information about Nightshade nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/whatis.html
She is! I mean some of her later works get very poetical and wander about - but a true classic fantasy author that didn't get the appreciation she should have.
When I read this book (the year it was released) it blew my mind out of the water. Now on sale at Amazon ($1.99) - an author gone too soon. #booksky

The highlight of the day is I finally found a great reading chair for my office after looking for 2 days and seeing nothing inspiring. The price was excellent and it was only 20 minutes away. Meanwhile, writing is at a snail's pace.
it is - and it surprised me bc usually I get solid reviewers from NetGalley.
Don't know if you are aware @netgalley but reviewers who never reviewed (and now can't get MORE free books through your service) are leaving ratings with a "didn't read the book but need to rate so NG will give me more free books" Very disappointing.
Very disappointed w NetGalley this go-around. I'm getting reviews for books posted A YEAR AGO because the "I want a free book" crowd found out they couldn't get more free books until they reviewed the other free books. Basically star ratings with "I didn't read it but need another free book"
this has been the worst book launch I've had since my first book. 2025 is not going to be a normal year.

Sometimes I think writing and publishing isn't worth it. I often think about quitting and that is on my mind today when I get an email like I just did.

I DNF. I just don't have the time to waste. I was reading one YA book (accidently bc I usually don't read it) and the MFC was went on a liner across the Atlantic on her own in the 1890s. Laughable.
Thanks for the reminder!
Today seems like a good day to remind #booksky that Audible is owned by an oligarch. Itβs a good day to cancel your membership. Get a library card and download the Libby app or Libro.fm which helps support a local bookstore of your choice. #boycott #readers
