This legislative session, despite fierce opposition from supporters across the state, lawmakers passed a new bill, adding a way for the state to enforce the flag ban with huge daily fines. That bill was just signed into law.

Last year, after the legislature passed a law restricting the flags local governments can fly, Boise designated the Pride flag as an official city flag. That meant the flag would keep flying outside City Hall.

"Our support for... our LGBTQ+ community does not begin or end with this flag. Because our support is rooted in love, and love cannot be legislated by the state."
