Camping by the river tonight
Posts by A Restless Soul
The sun is out and the Dalton Highway is showing its true potential
Back on the road working my way back to civilization
The van is covered in dirt again. They were doing some calcium treatment on the road. It was like driving in mud frosting
Such a beautiful camping spot. Gives me a great view for my work day.
It is important
I cook that way at home to. Encourages me to use more vegetables than meat.
Another great camping spot in the wilds.
After working all day it was time to turn around and drive back. There’s only one road in and out.
Did find a nice camping spot outside of town.
Yesterday I arrived at the end of the Dalton Highway. What a bumpy road that was. Dalton is an oil production area. There’s not much there.
Eagle, AK a cute little town. There’s no running water in the homes here.
Bush planes in Eagle Alaska
It poured down rain last night. With the preputial daylight I was blessed with a stunning view at midnight
Back to last nights camping spot after refueling in Dawson City.
Not all my campsite have a view like this. But driving down a 4x4 trail weeds out people that would go to this spot
I got very lucky today. I was working in the van this afternoon and opened the side window. I forgot to close it and drove about 100 km. I’m lucky it didn’t rip off in the wind
Parts off the Dempster Highway at times are also the runway. I’ve seen this multiple times in the Yukon
All along the Dempster Highway are gravel pits. It takes allot of work to maintain them. The roads have to be high as to not cause the permafrost to thaw out. That would cause the road to sink.
Climb one of the mountains/hill where a radio tower was installed. Incredible view
The Dempster Highway is known for causing flats. I was a victim of that today. Having had one last summer I was well prepared for it. Tiring but it went smoothly. Even got to wear my coveralls 😛
Made it to the Arctic ocean today. This entire trip was planned for that one goal. It feels good to have accomplished that goal
Ferry is still closed. Camped close to the artic circle
Tonight’s camping spot is definitely at the top of the hill. Not quite a 360 view but pretty spectacular.
The scenery today was so different than any that I’m use to. Just hills of rocks. Not sure but these might be Pingos. Ice hills formed from dry lake beds.
What I dislike about this platform is that I can’t correct those autocorrect changes that occur on you while you are typing.
I love wild camping by the river. Tonight spot. Just need to doa little more work to finish off my day.
It’s trying to come out. But back to clouds
The Sun is out today. It’s been raining for the last few days. My vehicle is covered in dirt so much so I had to clean the dirt of my brakes
Pretty laid back today being a work day. Just a short nature hike with the ranger. The animal parts are from a beaver. Tombstone park is considered a taking park. You can collect plants and berries for eating. Canadian citizens can hunt in the park.
