Had an excellent time at Highlander Homecoming this weekend connecting and building with some amazing organizers and thinkers.

Now I don’t know the ex-husband’s motivation in sharing that, he probably meant to shame her for not fitting the expected role, but the reason he thought that would work is this unsaid heuristic.

But yeah this is why people find the idea of a white woman having a larger sexual appetite than a white man as particularly risible because white women are imagined at the other end of this spectrum. There was good TikTok on Taylor Swift as a white girl that was about this.

This is well-trod territory in Black feminist literature so when so many people continue to perpetuate these tropes it really does make me question if people read all those books they swore they just couldn’t get away from during the “dreaded Woke Times”

It also sets Black men apart as particularly rapacious and unable to control their sexual desires, which drives support for reactionary policies in regard to prisons, policing, and immigration.

This manifests itself in many ways, one of which is the association of Blackness with masculinity, making it so that people believe Black people in general must have an endless sexual appetite, with stereotypes about Black women being particularly pernicious in this regard...

Essentially, a *lot* of people assume men are incapable of not being horny at all times, and it leads to a lot of bad assumptions all around.
