My most liberal idpol radlib take is that I think it's pretty bad that
right wing forces are actively intervening on behalf of the Klan with the full weight of the state legal apparatus

Economics can either enable the slide toward fascism, or defend affordability, dignity, and democracy.

I wrote ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS with my baby by my side—a constant reminder that the future should be livable for all.

Out in October with Random House.

"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X

The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.

I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).

So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Marwan Barghouti is the most popular Palestinian alive and has expressed support for a partition along the pre June 1967 borders into a separate state.

Barghouti has been in Israeli jail for two decades and is routinely tortured and even threatened with murder by Israeli politicians and guards.

Hegseth saying “The Pharisee Press” should be a fully mask off moment. He is saying “The Jewish Press”. But Christians of all political stripes are so devoted to using Pharisees as a rhetorical prop that liberal Christians regularly insist it’s totally fine, no matter how many Jews try to explain.

The ironclad domination of the legal intelligentsia over American constitutional law is probably the single biggest barrier to any kind of long-term reform in this country, especially since basically nobody in power is able to ever conceptualize it as a problem.

Losing SLACs (small liberal arts colleges) is absolutely a sign of American academia's decline and the gutting of the humanities in particular.
I'm pretty sure SLACs are a uniquely American phenomenon. Most countries don't have hundreds of small, non-research-oriented colleges dedicated to teaching.

Book cover of Needs That Bind: Materializing Nationality in Post-Ottoman Regimes by Orçun Can Okan

Needs That Bind reconsiders the dismantling of the Ottoman Empire and the construction of new regimes after WWI, to understand the connections that remained among the new republican regime in Turkey and neighboring French and British Mandates in Syria-Lebanon and Iraq

It's the 7th month of the US bombing random ships in Latin American waters they claim are drug smugglers (reminder that two survivors who were rescued were repatriated, not charged), and the death toll is 150+, and it barely gets discussed.

A post from Donald Trump saying "Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy. He talks about “fear” of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart. I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History. Leo should be thankful because, as everyone knows, he was a shocking surprise. He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump. If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church! President DONALD J. TRUMP"
