Children are encouraged to develop independent thought in the tween years, but by age 14 or 15, they are still, in fact, children. Here’s a brilliant child breaking it down for us.
I really wish all humans understood brain development. Even at the age of consent or 18, the average person is still approximately 7 years away from attaining the executive function skill set. This would be even longer for neurodivergent individuals. Coercive control is easy at 14 or 15 years old.
