I don’t think my biometric watch is working correctly. I made my stair climbing goal while pouring a bowl of snacks.

My hope is that tools like this will democratize the development work around building applications. And allow more people to bring products to market. On the other hand, we could still be the pawns to the companies that control these tools, and aren’t beholden to usage limits.

And this is just after a week. I've also found this does tend to chew through my plan limits. I'll need to wait for the new session to start, or make sure I pause work, and budget the usage limit for other projects. So it is very tempting to just jump into the premium plan...

So with all this set up, and unleashing Claude on the project I've found it can just keep working. It'll suggest tackling the next milestone, and then just get to work, asking for approval to run commands. It feels like I have my own developer working for me.

At least at the surface level, Chat's suggestions sounded good, so I ran with them.

Stepping back to the MASTER-AC I mentioned earlier, I also spent some time iterating on that between Claude and ChatGPT. I *feel* like Chat was making some good observations, but even if it wasn't able to access the files directly. I would provide it what Claude said about the project.

This approach might be wasteful in your usage, my thought from here is to defer more of the specifics per sub-system to sub-directory "CLAUDE.md" files, so those are only ingested as needed, while keeping the top-level .md file more general.

And of course I quickly learned that I can keep a "CLAUDE.md" file to direct claude to read those files, to more efficiently pick up a session where the last one left off.

I also didn't want to keep re-summarizing the project goals to Claude. So to address those issues, I created a "MASTER-AC.txt" file, that summarized the project plan, roadmap, and milestones. I also had claude start keeping a "claude-dev-log" file, and create "claude-session-handoff" files.

One key seems to be carrying over the needed context between sessions. I'll end a session, then start a new one, and Claude won't know where we left off, and frankly, I wasn't quite sure on everything that had been completed.

So I pointed Claude at a hobby project, that's been stalled for a bit, while I've been busy with real work, and life in general. I think I've very quickly learned some lessons in pointing Claude at some fairly large-scale, aspirational projects.

It's been handy on my professional projects. But my work here is often either a lot of individual, small tickets, or I'm more hands off, and in the role as a "tech lead" where I'm coaching other developers doing the work, and helping the team and client define the AC in tickets.

It was "3D" in the sense that the original Castle Wolfenstein was, and buggy as heck, as I found you would often clip into a wall, and couldn't get out. But still impressive, and something an 11 year old was able to create, that probably would have taken a professional adult developer months.

A few minutes after that, he had a blue circle that a second player could use with the arrow keys, and the stick figure animated. Then, he had the game do a "Jump Scare" when you caught the stickman, and switch to a "3d" mode, where you became the stick man navigating a maze.

Last night, I let my 11 year old son have a try at it. He wanted to build a game. Within 5 minutes, he had Claude write a python script from scratch, that tracked WASD keys to move a red square around the window. A few minutes later, he had a moving stick figure that you were supposed to chase.

I started using Claude code last week, and it was pretty amazing. Fully agentic AI tool, you can just let loose in your project. I had been using ChatGPT for coding, but copy / pasting into single files at a time is limiting. I can't believe this has been out for a bit now.

Perhaps better than a ThanksGivingInterface

I’ve read a lot more 30k than 40. Since planets are largely left to govern themselves as long as they pay their tithes, I’m sure they come in all sorts of economic models. Hive spire nobles are described as decadent. Make up whatever you like in your head canon.
