After listening to The Mountain some more, I think this album is one of Gorillaz' strongest works.
It feels like a successor to Plastic Beach in terms of committing to a universal theme/tone while standing on its own as a solid, emotional album with some absolute bangers.

I really really appreciate yours and Dave’s honesty. I used to be pretty bummed about my situation with having to do customer service but the reality is the creative industry is just ridiculously terrible rn and it’s always been hard. I’m appreciating small things more and more.

lol I actually used that series as a reference! It’s the panel where Johnny tortures his copycat. You have an excellent eye. I’m pretty enamored by the way that series depicts people and pushes them to look extremely uncanny.
